Well, let me address the note's background, since coronavirus pandemic in Beijing, it makes the shortage of caddie for most of golf courses, the caddies become important resource in Beijing's golf courses. That's why the caddie's tips are raised. It's important to bring up the income details of golf caddie in China. It's consisted of basic pay + paid per round + tips. The basic pay is low as it's pretty much the same as basic hour rate in each city. Paid per round is less than 100RAM. These two pays are not as good as tips. Let me give you an example, the basic pay of a caddie is 1200RMB, he has 25 rounds per month and each round is 80RMB, each round of the tips is 150RMB, as a result, this caddie's gross income before tax is 6950RAM. I have checking some caddies worked in Beijing's golf courses, the tips are occupied around 60% of his income. I interview with one manager worked for a luxury golf course in Shanghai city, the caddie's tips are occupied 70% of the income. You are able to realize the importance of tips for a caddie's income. Nowadays most of things are increased the prices compared 10 years ago. The income and tips are no change at all for the caddies. I think most of jobs' the salary are still the same as 10 years ago. That's why they are asking for raising. to be continued.... 當球童小費明碼標價，100元行情價將成為過去時/ 100RAM for caddie's tip is no longer available？～王昊，上集 http://www.peargolf.com/article/dangqiutongxiaofeimingmabiaojia%EF%BC%8C100yuanxingqingjiajiangchengweiguoqushi-100ram-caddies-tip-n 中集開始。 小費，這個源自西方的習俗，跟隨高爾夫這個舶來物一起來到中國。所謂入鄉隨俗，你在美國一般的餐館吃飯，不給小費是不可思議的。因為大家都接受了這個做法——小費是服務員收入的一部分，其實也是你餐費的組成部分。 這里必須得說說韓國球友。我之前去韓國打球，一對四，球會規定球童小費是約700元（無論是一個人還是四個人一組），球童也就給遞個桿啥的。你不給或者給少了球童是會追著你要的，特別理直氣壯。我覺得去韓國打球的球友都能接受這個收費標準（不接受又能怎樣呢？）。 同樣的，韓國球友在中國打球，給個50元肯定也不合適！同樣的，入鄉隨俗嘛。有網友建議在紙條上加上韓語，筆者認為很有必要。或者出發站提前告知小費價格，不能接受的話，別下場就是了。 我們下面來討論，小費收200元是不是比100元在當下更合理。有意思的是，海底撈最近也漲價了。海底撈其實不便宜，但是它還是排大長隊，人們完全是沖著它的口味和菜品嗎？筆者認為不是。 服務，一直是海底撈最拿得出手的價值。海里撈的免費小食、美甲服務、有求必應的服務員，這些成本其實都加在消費價格里面了，其實大多數顧客也心知肚明，但大家為何還是願意去海底撈呢？花錢買服務，你賺錢我開心。就是這麼簡單。所以球童朋友們可以先問問自己，自己的服務值200元嗎？ “球童小費就應該完全和服務質量掛鉤。”一名球友說，“我很不想每次按照行情給100元，服務好的該給200元，服務不好的給50元我都嫌多。”球友對球童的服務基本不外乎於提供球場信息、遞桿、報碼數、修打痕、耙沙、果嶺看線等，不過就是這幾個技術環節，球童服務的差別還是挺大的。 筆者在全國各地打過上百場球，說說讓我不爽的球童表現：開球時球童不看落點，各種找不到球；球童一直玩手機；忘記拿桿或者拿錯球桿…… 本文未完，下集請待續。 Tips, it's from America and Europe, now it comes with golf to China. Of course, good caddies can deliver the accurate yardage, green path, and suggestions. That's professional works based on the experiences, golfing skills and knowledge. I have been playing over 100 golf course in China and let me tell you some bad services I have got from caddies. Something like unable to find the ball, not pay attention on tracing the ball location, checking his/her cell phone all the time, carrying the wrong golf clubs and giving wrong information about the green. There are lots of stupid and unprofessional works from the caddies, that is unqualified caddie services. Eventually I have to pay the fixed amount for tips! That's the rule. to be continued... 當球童小費明碼標價，100元行情價將成為過去時/ 100RAM for caddie's tip is no longer available？～王昊，中集 http://www.peargolf.com/article/dangqiutongxiaofeimingmabiaojia%EF%BC%8C100yuanxingqingjiajiangchengweiguoqushi-100ram-caddies-tip-0 下集開始。 從筆者經歷的球童來看，80%以上是合格的。我個人願意為這些球童掏200塊錢小費。不過，有些球童真的是特別懶、特別不負責，讓我給200塊錢，我是非常不情願的。事實上，在中國，大多數球友都一樣，過去多數情況都按100塊錢行情價和球童結算了——無論球童服務好壞。 這樣的“大鍋飯”其實特別不好，表現好的球童感覺不公平，感覺自己付出的勞動沒有得到應有的回報；而球友遇到不上心的球童，也挺郁悶，感覺自己的消費完全沒有得到相應的服務。小費，本應就是鼓勵表現的獎勵。 那麽，200元的“最低小費標準”會在全國推行嗎？筆者認為短期內不會。出臺這個標準的球會，本身打球客人的消費水平比較高，他們對多出的這100元小費不會那麽敏感；北京其實還有很多一場球收費400-500元的球場，如果這些價格較低的球場也統一提高小費標準，可能一些球友合計一場球的成本後，就得望而卻步了。 這個情況也適用於收入水平和消費水平沒有那麽高的城市和球場。一個商品和服務的價格一下翻一番，市場需要時間去適應和接受。其實在國內很多相對高端的球會（平日打一場球價格1000元以上），200元小費的起步價早就開始自動執行了——球會沒有強制要求，但是球友也都默認接受了。 有趣的是，筆者雖然遇到過個別服務真的很差的球童，但是給球童投評價卡一直都是投“優”，從來沒有投過“良”、“一般”、“差”。聽很多球場都說過，如果球童收到不好的評價，會被罰款、會被罰停止出場…… 現在筆者開始反思，自己的這個行為是不是錯了，因為這對那些真的表現“優”的球童也是不公平的——就像他們不應該總是收到“100元”的小費一樣。 多年以前，幾乎所有的球會都說：球童小費是自願的，客人給不給、給多給少都是應該的。而現在，球會開始規定小費的起步價了。 With my experience, 80% of the services from caddies are positive and qualified. In general, most of golfers in China always pay 100RMB for the tips no matter the services are good or bad. It's not encouraged for good caddies who dedicate their hard works and try to deliver the best services and expertise to the golfers. It won't help golf courses maintain and improve the services from caddies as the tips are all the same amount. Tips are based on the service quality you get and can be varied by the caddies. That's the key! Will 200RMB tips become the standardization for most of golf courses in China? I do not think so in short term. However, some high end or luxury private golf courses in Beijing are already set the tips for 400\~500RMB per round. Of course, there are not many customers in such golf courses. The majority of golf courses may need to evaluate the high tips impact for golfer's budget. The cities like Beijing and Shanghai are big that have many rich golfers to pay for higher amount for tips, but for the third or smaller cities in China, the cost will certainly be the issue for local golfers to play. Since it's part of the services for playing per round. To embrace more people to play golf, the cost is always the issue for people to consider. Most of golf courses in China has the survey or evaluation for the caddie service after you play the round, but I always give "good service" no matter its good or bad service from caddie. If the caddie receives bad comment or bad service from customers, they will receive the punishments from managers such as reducing the works, and cut the wage for that month. As a result, I need to be seriously to make the right comments on the caddie's services after I finish the play. It's able to encourage the good caddies for dedicating the works and also to push the bad caddies to improve the services and the overall services can be increased. Decade ago, most of golf courses said there is no rule and fixed amount for the tips. Customers can give the tips or not, customers can pay the tips with any amount.
