# Taylormade SIM, SIM MAX 木桿小試

Taylormade SIM, SIM MAX 木桿小試！

這次在PGA的outdoor和indoor會場裡都測試了2020新款TM最新木桿SIM/SIM Max兩款。因為這次Taylormade沒有參加PGA展覽，所以這幾天測試的木桿都是一些桿身廠他們自行配置的桿身。比如Tour AD， KBS、Nippon Shaft等桿身配置。當然這就如同訂製產品的效果，不是原廠所配置的規格和桿身。

首先，SIM的桿頭設計外型和去年的M6幾乎是一樣，當然有一些差異但整體的相似度高達8成以上。所以對我來說SIM就是M6的進化版。而SIM款就是加上配重的滑塊的M6。當然SIM整體使用碳纖維材質很多，所以可以把桿頭重量更加集中在特定區塊。這也是使用複合式材質的重點。

因為在美國這邊測試的桿身大多都是60、70g等級的重量，所以對我來說，使用起來就偏重和硬。對於擊球的感覺就很硬。當然我要求桿身業務幫我換上50g R和S硬度桿身後，手感上就改變和友善多了。這也是要去測試比較適合自己揮桿速度，和桿身會更容易得到最好的結果和手感。

因為這些球桿都是現成的，所以我就以我使用的感謝和大家分享，無法和以前我特別針對桿頭、桿身和整體規格進行詳細的解說。當然也可以給大家一個初步和球桿特性雛形。

首先，對於用60g和70g桿身的使用感受和效果。打起來的感受偏硬，但擊球的球速快，倒旋少。這點在室內打，配有launch monitor是可以看到的差異。畢竟沒有足夠的速度和力量，是很難產生桿身物理變化。而倒旋量就是一個重點。當然在室外看到球速和落地的效果也是瞭解倒旋量一個方式。

In the beginning of 2020, I have tried Taylormade SIM drivers in Orando PGA shows. Although this time Taylormade doesn't participate the show, there are some shaft companies such as KBS, Nippon shaft and tour AD to fit with SIM /SIM MAX for demos. I play it with various combo in both demo day and trade show's indoor testing area. Below is the review and experience I gain for SIM/SIM Max drivers.

First of all, the new SIM/SIM MAX is highly similar with last year M6 driver. It's no only the appearance but also the technologies. I would say over 80% of similarity with M6 driver and should be the advanced version for M6\. Of course, it's using more carbon fiber composite and the MOI and weight distribution are higher than before. I would say it's better and mature head design than TM driver heads ever. That's the core advantage for new SIM/SIM Max drivers.

I have been trying SIM/SIM MAX with shaft weights from 60g and 70g and also couple of 50g shafts to see the true performance of the SIM driver heads. To me, 50g shaft with SIM/SIM MAX drivers is the best fit for my swing. It's not only the best performance but the greatest impact feel from the heads. It fits my experience of my M6 combos.

The outdoor demo days in chill and windy condition, if the ball is hard compression, it makes the impact and control harder for handling SIM/SIM MAX drivers. Particularly playing 60g and 70g shafts it is unable to have enough shaft loading and unloading for the best performance. The club face feedbacks would be hard in impact. That's why clubfitting is critical to get the best driver performance and impact feel.

In short, SIM/SIM MAX driver heads are highly selected shaft profile for the golfers with right fitting. If the shaft and driver specification are not corrected or fitted, the golfers would not get the best result of SIM driver heads.

The advantages of SIM/SIM MAX are low spin rate, fast ball speed, quick ball respending and reducing side spin (forgiving). It's good for average golfers to gain the distance and allow yourself to have mis shots. I could get the whole ball flight and rolling in outdoor clearly with SIM performances.

換上50g和R硬度就相對簡單好打。同時也可以感受到擊球的桿頭前端彈性。桿頭和桿面在擊球瞬間有擠壓到球的感覺。這就是正確的回饋感受。回饋雖然沒有我目前使用的M6紮實到位，但比起用60g和70g桿身打出來的效果是真的差很多。

我從以前M6桿頭時，就瞭解到M6這類桿頭設計，非常挑桿身和設定的規格。如果選的桿身和規格不對，打起來的回饋會差很多。所以不是我用貴或最新的桿身就可以得到最好的回饋。在M6和SIM桿頭上，這樣的做法不適用。

所以我建議多數亞洲球友可以從50g的桿身重量等級開始試起。這樣會比較好。當然你的揮桿速度有超過100mph，就從60g開始打起是OK！所以桿身的選擇是很重要。桿身特性要選可以發揮桿面彈力效果才好。

對於桿頭的特性，我使用的感覺是；桿頭的MOI高，讓擊球的容錯效果達到極致化。其實這點在M6就已經是如此。或許有些人會歸功在桿面twist face，減少側旋量。但我覺得這是整體桿頭設計做的到的結果。同時，運用大量的碳纖維材質，桿頭重量集中在特定部位，配合其他桿頭技術，得到最好的抗側旋和低倒旋效果！

因為在室外測試，天氣冷，風大，所以揮起來身體就不容易聽話。打起來就很難順利釋放，所以觸球時都會帶一點側旋，球在空中飛行到尾端時也帶一點右曲。但幅度都不大，也是可以接受。這是大家在下場很常見的狀況，所以也說明，桿頭對於側旋的壓制力是有不錯的表現。

另外也是桿頭特性，SIM和SIM MAX的launch Angle/擊球起發角度都比較高，所以打出來的彈道都會偏高。它的launch angle都15度以上，所以球都會飛的高，但因為倒旋和球速快，讓它飛的高，距離卻沒有打折。也可以瞭解這桿頭的能量效果是很猛。

After changing 50g shaft to fit SIM/SIM MAX driver head, the impact feel is totally different. I can do better releasing the clubhead and impact to squeeze the golf ball hardly. That's good feel for doing the right releasing of your swing. If you do not fit the right shaft with appropriate shaft weight and flex, this club head is unable to deliver the best performance and impact feel.

I was fitting M6 driver head and realizing that it's important to fit the right shaft for golfers. M6 driver head is very picky for the shaft selection. It doesn't mean you buy the luxury shaft or most updated shaft model is able to get the best result of M6\. You must choose the right shaft model, weight and flex in order to allow you to gain the head energy easily.

For Asian golfers or the swing speed less than 100mph in driver, it's better to use the shaft weight from 50g. With such shaft weight, you are easily to release your driver head during the swing and the power will be complete released to result the best performance of SIM/SIM MAX heads. That's the key for SIM/SIM MAX driver heads.

The SIM/SIM MAX head design is good for average golfers to reduce the side spin with mis shot. The head uses lot of carbon fiber material to concentrate the weight to the specific area of the head, it makes the MOI to the maximum with the best forgiving and twist face technology. Even though I do not swing nicely, swing is not smooth with small mistake, the ball still flight straightly with slightly slice in the end of trajectory.

That's acceptable and good for average golfers or weekend golfers to use this advantage. As your swing is not mature and not well trained, you need to have right driver to allow you to make the mistake. I do believe SIM/SIM MAX head can reduce your mis shot impact to the smallest. If you pick the right golf ball, the mis shot damage will be minimum without doubt.

The other characteristic is the SIM/SIM MAX launch angle is high. It's easy to get the launch angle over 15 degree that means the ball is flighting higher, but the ball speed is fast with my impression. That's the merit from driver head with head weight focusing on specific area. The back spin is less than other driver heads and the energy and power are so efficient and productive! That's typical performance driven clubhead DNA.

這也是我當初用M6時的感受和經驗。所以我才會說M6是高彈道桿頭，但配置的桿身很重要。所以我配置幾款低和中彈道的高碳布桿身，讓它可以得到更有侵略性的彈道和飛行效果。同樣的狀況也是可以適用在SIM和SIM MAX上。

要配置對的桿身，需要技師對桿身產品有比較深入的瞭解。這樣才能找到適合的配置。尤其用手打球的球友，如果桿子規格不對和桿身配置不到位，只會讓你打的挫折和見高不見遠的狀況。

另外我覺得SIM/SIM Max這類桿頭適合裝不長的配置。因為桿頭的效能很到位。不需要特別去裝長（超過45.5“）來得到最遠的距離。反而應該要配置對的長度和重量比例，讓你可以吃球精準，這樣效果自然是最佳化。

我認為裝44”，可以打的紮實和有高比例的甜蜜點精準度，得到的效果會比裝46“的長度要更好。SIM這類的桿頭，是和日系那種要裝長尺才能的到的距離效果是完全不同的路子。所以我自己的M6也是裝在45”以內。不要把這桿頭自作聰明的配置長尺。這是畫蛇添足的做法或不懂的想法。

整體來說，SIM和SIM MAX的差異沒有很大。就算你要打一些球路，SIM MAX也不會不容易做球。反而在桿身上的選擇和配置才是關鍵。基本上，SIM這款桿頭的完成度和成熟度都已經很高。它是一款高容錯、低倒旋、高起發角的桿頭。非常效能但又適合一般人的動作不穩定使用。

如果你試不好，可能是桿頭設定重量或滑塊的設置不正確，要不就是桿身配置不適合。這些都是可以解決。所以最好和技師討論商量再去測試和選擇適合的桿身來配置。 配置正確和規格適合，它會讓你如魚得水、帶你上天堂！

This is exact feel and experience that I play M6\. That's why I said M6 driver head is high launch. Therefore, the right shaft is critical to fit the driver head. I fit couple of mid trajectory shafts with M6 head and love it well. It makes the ball flight very aggressive and penetrated. The same situation is happened in new SIM and SIM MAX.

Since I have tried at least 5 combinations of various shafts with SIM/SIM MAX, it is able to see the different ball flight and if you picks the wrong shaft, your ball may flight high but less distance.That's highly happened in retail stock shafts.

More importantly, I personally believe SIM/SIM MAX is good for shorter length setup. Since the head is good with great technology to boost the distance and fast ball speed. The core of SIM setup is the driving the striking accuracy. If you can strike the ball on sweet spot or hot zone of the face, you can get good distance for sure without difficulty.

You do not need to make it long to get longer distance. Making the length within 45" will help you play and control better on SIM/SIM MAX. At the same time you can get the high striking on sweet spot ratio.

It's different with some of Japan driver head needed to make longer length for better distance with light weight shaft feature. Average golfers have difficulty to handle long length and should make the driver length within 45" for the best control and swing accuracy. You do not worry about the distance since SIM is able to deliver the best distance for you without problem.

As a result, SIMI/SIM MAX are good driver heads for average golfers to enjoy the best distance and impact feel. With M5/M6 drivers, this year's SIM/SIM MAX have been better and improved a lot. Even you would like to work on certain ball flight, you can be easy to work on the ball. The key is you need to get the right shaft to fit your swing and swing tempo.

SIM/SIM MAX are the high launch, low spin and very forgiving. You should consult with your clubfitter first to get the idea of right shaft and also the custom driver specification. These heads are needed to be fit with golfer's swing them you can gain the best performance driver ever.
