Hey guys, when it comes to golf gear, most of us buddies obsess over clubs, balls, and even the clothes we wear on the course. But honestly, I think gloves and shoes are the two things people kinda overlook. And trust me, these two items are super important for how we swing and how far and straight the ball goes. So if you wanna hit it longer and straighter, you gotta level up and invest in gloves and shoes. It’s not just about upgrading your clubs or balls to add distance or improve your shots—your palm is the part that’s directly touching the club. You control the club and transfer all your body power through your hands. How can that not matter?

Gloves aren’t just about size and material when you’re picking one out. The design is a big deal too—like how sticky it is, how it goes on, and how breathable it is. Those are the keys to making it feel comfy and easy to use. If you’re someone who gets sweaty hands (like me sometimes), the glove’s sweat-wicking and ventilation gotta match your vibe perfectly. I’ve had gloves I loved because the leather felt amazing, but they didn’t breathe or wick sweat, so after a while they’d harden up and just die on me. Especially for you guys breaking 90, breathable and sweat-wicking gloves are way more important.

Why? Because players at that level practice more often and for longer than beginners or low-handicappers. You’re using the glove a ton, so breathability and sweat management directly affect your grip and how well you swing. Another thing: when your game’s not great, you’re usually wearing the glove the whole round—you rarely take it off to let your hand breathe. You’re tee off into the woods, rough, bunkers, running all over to the green while everyone’s waiting. Ain’t nobody got time to take the glove off to putt—you just push with it on.
In that kinda situation, the glove has to breathe better so your palm doesn’t get all damp and slippery, messing up your club control.

So my advice? Test out a bunch of brands and styles. Figure out which one’s sweat-wicking and breathability works best for you. Everyone’s different—what works for your buddy might not work for you. Only real testing tells the truth. Hit up a pro shop, try ‘em on, wear ‘em for a while, and you’ll see the real results.

Now, shoes—I gotta say, I care about shoes way more than clubs. I buy new golf shoes every year. I treat ‘em like functional everyday shoes, not just for the course. I wear ‘em to work, walking around town, whatever. Golf shoes are tougher, last longer on your feet, breathe better, and are waterproof compared to regular kicks. Yeah, they cost more, but the performance and durability crush normal shoes. Plus, the grip is way more stable on regular ground too.

The whole point of golf shoes is to let your power come through. Your body strength goes from your feet up to your hands to swing the club. If your shoes slip or feel shaky, forget about swinging with full power. I’m always trying different shoes and getting different results. Spiked soles obviously grip better, but you gotta clean ‘em—get the grass, sand, whatever out—or they’ll slip too. I clean my soles after every round, no exceptions!

Spikes also need replacing now and then, so keep tools and extra spikes handy. Me? I mostly go spikeless—they’re perfect for work or casual wear, easier to clean, and if your swing speed and power aren’t crazy high, spikeless is plenty. If you’re bombing drives over 280 yards, though, go spiked. Big power needs big grip, and spikes lock in harder.

I keep both kinds. If the course is wet or has thick grass, I’ll wear spikes—the extra height keeps you from sinking and slipping in water or rough. Super useful if you play the same courses a lot. Know the layout, the conditions, the hazards—pick the shoe that fits the day. And hey, shoes are part of your style too. Function’s gotta be on point, but they should look sharp. Pro from head to toe.

Shoes are something you use every day, so invest in ‘em. If they’re functional, comfy, and last, worth every penny even if they’re pricey. Spikeless with waterproofing and breathability? Killer for daily wear if you walk or stand a lot—way better than regular sneakers. I’ve been rocking spikeless off the course for over 10 years. Comfier, tougher, waterproof, longer-lasting. Your feet deserve the best—no settling.

Thanks to tech and materials, golf gear blends into everyday life now—clothes, shoes, gloves, bags. Most of my wardrobe is golf stuff, shoes included. Wanna play? Grab the bag and go. So yeah, if you’re shooting over 90, pay attention to gloves and shoes. Invest more. They affect how you transfer power and hit the ball. It’s not just clubs and balls. Pick what fits your needs and conditions. That’s the smart investment!
