3層優力辛球皮真的是王道嗎？

自從Titleist Pro 1成名以來，高級球款就不自覺的一定是以Pro V1的結構和材質為基礎。而近5、6年來很多的小品牌或台灣製球工廠也陸續推出這類大球心，薄球皮的三層球結構。當然球皮一定要搭配優力辛才能稱上高檔球或進階球。而這真的是最好或適合大家嗎？

球這塊我倒是有點研究，也一直在測試和研究市面上不同的球款。但高檔球雖然有一些是友善的小品牌或台灣自有品牌，如果你的能力或需求沒有到一個程度，這樣的球款對你來說也是鎮煞避邪用。打起來的感覺像打石頭一樣。難道2層球就真的不行或性能不及3層優力辛的球嗎？

不見得！我一直都在用2層和3層球，交換使用，去感受結構、材質和性能差異的結果。對我來說，好的3層優力辛球和好的2層surlyn球皮的球，其實差異不大。我個人經驗是，以木桿來說，差異在5碼左右。而對於一般球友來說，這5碼也就是合理的誤差範圍值。

真的嗎？為什麼我看室內的測試會有明顯差異。這是在室內，沒有室外的影響因素，比如濕氣，風速、地形等影響。更重要是如果你用3層優力辛的球，沒有打到對的位置和力量沒有灌進到球裡，效果其實沒有打2層球的好。

我以前也是3層優力辛球的鐵粉，但是我自己的2層軟材質surlyn用了後，其實真的覺得，距離效果沒有太大差別。在鐵桿上，距離是一樣，倒旋落地停球，也差不多。推桿的手感上，我反而覺得2層的手感會比較舒服。

Since Titleist Pro v1 becomes the number 1 golf ball, it has defined the high end golf ball specification and requirement. It must be 3 or 4 layers with soft urethane cover. In recent 5、6 years, there are many small golf ball companies offering similar Pro V1 3/4 layer urethane cover balls with affordable prices to get the market shares. My question is do we really need such multilayer golf ball with urethane cover?

I have been studying and testing various golf ball models since 20 years ago as I am also the golf ball maker in Taiwan and to know how other companies make the golf balls are the important job to me. I need to say nowadays the 2 layer surlyn ball can compete with multilayer urethane cover golf ball without problem.

I have been using 2 layer and 3 layer urethane cover balls with all my plays. With such experiences, i am able to feel, compare and see the differentiations on performance, distance and spinning. I personally think good 2 layer ball with soft surlyn cover is able to compete with multilayer urethane ball. That's why I believe 2 layer soft surlyn ball is the ball for average golfers.

Of course, if you compare the multilayer urethane cover ball through the launch monitor with 2 layer surlyn cover ball, multilayer urethane always has good numbers and results, but if you play in golf course, I would not think the differentiation is that big since there are many issues will make the result differently such as winds, humidity, fairway designs.

I was a big fan for multilayer golf ball but when I developed the golf 2 layer soft surlyn cover ball, I start questioning the multilayer urethane balls. I must say keeping things simple is the key including the golf ball, multilayer urethane ball is targeted certain groups of golfers, the average golfers are not capable to feel, control and deliver the best results with multilayer urethane balls. No mention it's luxury pricing.

因為3層優力辛球款，大多球心是硬，球皮軟的設計，所以在推桿來說更能感受到球心的硬，而2層球球心如果選在80～90硬度的話，推的手感會比較舒服和軟。擊球的回饋也相對舒服柔軟。因為優力辛球皮只有薄薄不到1mm厚度，不可能去吸收推擊的撞擊力，能吸收也就一部分。

我從以前就很愛一款Bridgestone的2層球B330，就是這類2層球軟皮的設計。因為打出來的結果就和我打3層優力辛球差不多。後面就是我自己的2層大球心軟皮的surlyn球，一樣都是頭好壯壯。前提是球心要好！球心配方不好一樣烙賽。

我自己做研究和實際使用的經驗是，技術和結構越簡單越好。這樣的效果反而越明顯著注。加上我國外客人的使用經驗，都說明，其實2層軟皮的surlyn球，手感好，性能也不輸3層球。更讓我覺得，結構和材質不是決定球好壞的標準。

簡單的球結構，只要在技術和材質的提升。一樣可以超車高檔優力辛球。想想價格只要3層優力辛的一半，我就覺得可以盡情爽打。不管什麼山溝、盲打、出界，一樣把小宇宙燒盡的爆力擊球。就是爽度破表！

這就是我的高爾夫王道！盡情的爽打、而且球和球桿可以幫我修正動作的問題和錯誤。更重要它們的性能可以幫我加分和吊打其他同組球友。而手感是球最關鍵的因素，也是2層球的優勢。至少我打2層球時，它的手感是三層球所沒有的軟度，裡子和面子都顧到。

Most of multilayer urethane balls are hard compression with its core and soft cover, therefore, if your swing speed and power are not good enough, you are unable to get the maximum performance from the golf ball. Since it's critical to have impact ball deformation and you can get the best ball speed and flighting result.

Moreover, the multilayer ball with hard compression, during the putting, it's hard to feel the ball striking without good feedback. On the other hand, 2 layer surlyn balls have a number of soft compression to gain the good feedback during the putting. For average golfers, it's important feature to manage your putter for striking right spot of the putter face.

I like Bridgestone B330 since it's good performance ball but the feedback is good not as hard as multilayer urethane ball. Later I develop my own 2 layer surlyn soft compression and soft surlyn cover, I am crazy for the ball since it's good feel and performance is similar with 3 layer urethane ball but the cost is half. That's why selecting the right golf ball is critical!

There are some American golfers have tried my soft compression and soft surlyn 2 layer golf ball, they love it and impressive the performance and feel. Even though they put it on test indoor launch monitor, the distance is about 5 yards shorter than Pro V1 and sometimes, it can have the same distance with multilayer urethane balls.

Now I have the ability to make the 2 layer surlyn cover ball become the monster on feel and performance. I do not need to spend over $30/dozen for multilayer urethane ball to gain the good result, the simple and price friendly 2 layer ball is the one I am using without sacrificing the distance and feel.

When I play my 2 layer soft surlyn ball, I love to swing hard and freely without caring the ball will go out of bond or flighting to the trees. Since I can afford it and it makes me easier to release my mental and power. It's really matter when you play golf, how about you?
