Brentwood golf course!

3月中了，球場也陸續開場了，等了4個月，手都癢壞了。再不下場，心理狀態可能就要垮了。今天週五，天氣是我最喜歡的多雲，氣溫也在12～16多度，就是打球日，直接上網找球場來訂場。今天打長島的Brentwood球場，這個球場也100年了，開車要差不多50分鐘時間。因為離Costco近，所以打完順便去買點東西回去。一兼二顧！

訂早上9:40開球，早上送孩子去上學後就直接朝球場出發。球場規定要30分鐘前報到，所以我大約9點到，吃了點東西，就去繳錢等開球了。今天和3位senior一起打，我還是裡頭最年輕的。今天很多球場都是今年第一天開場的日子，我刻意選離市區比較遠一點的球場，這樣人應該也不會很多，加上平日時間，不會太多人。但到開球台就覺得今天人也都是有，只是沒有塞車。

前面組是3個人都是走路推車，我們這組只有我推車，其他人都開球車，反正我就是以我的速度來打，打算好好享受今年第一場球和天氣。開完球後我就知道今天我可以好好打、輕鬆打。因為他們的距離不遠、且準度還在冬眠。我的開球除了第三洞，因為身體太放鬆就打壞了，其他的開球都是穩穩的上球道或落在長草區。

先來說一下這個球場的特性，它非常適合新手或一段時間沒有打球的人，因為球道超寬，多數的球道基本都是停車場的寬度等級，不怕出界或掉球。我也是一個球打到底，但中間有換另一個球來感覺球的差異。球場的距離是藍tee 6173碼，白tee 5835碼。我前九和他們打白tee，後九就自己打藍tee。其實感覺不是差很多，就每一洞差個10～30碼而已。

3月這種時候，球場的狀況只能說是堪用，質量就別想。球道的草還在養，一些還黃黃的，果嶺也在舖沙打洞的。就一個字“慘”！但其他球場也是差不多，就是解個癮罷了。今天早上開球，球道還是很濕。不是說這些天下雨，而是清晨的露水。春天這種狀況最常見，前九的球道，打上去就一個彈跳ABS煞車。球也容易沾上水和土。鐵桿和短桿都容易帶一些土在桿頭上，所以打完就要清潔，不然桿面會沾土或沙子，桿面容易磨壞。

It's middle of March, weather is getting warmer and better, there are golf courses reopening in recent days. Today is so good with temperature 50~60 and cloudy. If I don't play golf, I am going to hate myself. Let's go online to book a tee time for such day. I book Brentwood country club in long island with driving 50 minutes from Flushing.

I know there are golfers to play in such good weather so I prefer to go long island to play with less people and relax vibe. More importantly the fee is so affordable compared with NYC public course. I ride my son to the school and head to the golf course. I grab a sandwich and finish it before tee time. I requires to check before 30 minutes and pay the fee then directly to the 1st hole.

I am playing with 3 other senior local golfers and it's going to be relax day since they are all the first time of the year and we have more room for mistakes. They all have cart and I walk but I am not worry since my tee shots are landed on the fairway or rough, no need to find the ball and save my time. I only mis once on 3rd hole since my body is too relax without holding the swing.

The bright side of the course is wide fairway and hardly to lose the ball, it's good for newcomers and golfers who need the practice for the tee shot. The total distance of blue tee is 6173 and white is 5835. I play white on first 9 and blue in back 9. Since the first 8 is so wet on the fairways and greens that are hard for your ball rolling. The distance is short than my average.

The back 9 is better with drying condition of fairway and greens. I have my ball rolling better for good distance. Honestly the blue tee is not much different with white in distance. I would suggest if your handicap is within 15, you should play blue as the distance wouldn't give you the hard time and difficulty.

下集開始。

後九就撥雲見日，雖然太陽沒有出來，但土也比較乾了，球就掛了Turbo，後九距離就正常了，我就直接攻藍tee了。找不到水池，算是這個場子的痛點，可以大膽的油門到底，最多出界，落入樹叢而已。而這個球場的挑戰在一些球道的起伏和小果嶺，果嶺有些是砲臺式。基本上，這樣的果嶺我都是2推收，難度就沒有。老球場多半都是小果嶺加沙坑包圍，第二桿的準度是關鍵。

今天我以動作的練習和掌握新球桿為主，木桿是完美，鐵桿需要再磨利一點，上果嶺一樣是40%左右，球道木是真的烙賽。新的Stealth 2，第一次下場打，完全狀況外。只有幾球打好、打紮實。其他都只有敲到球的上緣。Wedge也是新的Vega款，超穩，還有一次一切進洞，難得好球！至於推桿就不太苛求，因為果嶺狀況“糟”，要專業推....但也有一次一長推進洞。

今天打下來，抓一鳥，7個par，9個boggie，一個double。今年打算衝single努力，一直以來都是覺得輕鬆打，不對成績要求，認真要求每一桿的打法、效果，提升高爾夫的技術能力。球桿已經沒問題，需要把能力給拉起來。我也習慣打陌生球場，對球場如何折磨我也可以AI出方法應對。在體力、打球節奏和策略設定需要更好。

今天也和同組球友一路瞎聊，同組球友多是住附近或開車30分鐘到。他們一致認為這個球場性價比高，我必須說我在紐約市的公共球場打的價格，都要比這個球場貴了20%了，所以你如果覺得自己需要多練習，也不想花太多錢的話，這個球場真的可以來。我以後拉我兒子一起來打，他也很久沒有打球，親子同遊的好選擇。

另外在美國打球都可以在球場看到一些野生動物，今天看到好幾次的狐貍出沒。球友說，要把你的球袋拉鍊拉好，不然狐貍會去你的球袋找東西吃，一叼就跑了，我是在球袋裡放不少點心。真的，在美國我打很多球場，確實可以看到不少動物出沒，而今天的狐貍完全不怕人，我才有機會拍下來。松鼠基本已經是家禽了，這也算是打球的視覺享受了！

The negative side is the condition of the golf course is not good at all, the grass is not good with lots of area in yellow and takes time to wait for grass to grow. The green is so bad with sands and holes. It's hard to blame the condition at this time as most of golf courses are still waiting for grass and green to become mature. As a result, please don't put your expectation too much on the condition.

Although the overall course layout is not tough for average golfers but the challenge is on the up and down hills on fairways and small greens over the 18 holes. The positive side is if you can land the ball on the green, you can make 2 putt close the round. There are bunkers surrounded the greens so the second shot is key to make your score low.

My tee shot is good in driver and irons but the second shot is not in condition. I mis the green over 50% and that makes 9 bogeys and 1 double bogey. I grab 1 birdie with one chip in. My short game is ok today but the irons are not sharp as my driver. The other thing to improve is my fairways, I 3W is terrible with mis-shots all the time.

Since I am playing new Taylormade stealth 2 titanium 3W and 5W, 5W is ok, but still fail to strike the sweet spot about 50%. I will have to play more rounds in order to get familiar with my new stealth 2 woods. My new Vega wedge is working well and I can put the ball to the hole as close as possible, I think it's fit my game very well and I can get my score down 2~3 shots for sure.

Overal, it's a good golf course for new golfers or you need more practice on your driver, woods and irons, the green fee is very friendly and the local golfers are friendly to cheer you up. That's the thing I am impressive. If you are mid or low handicappers, you can't satisfy with the condition, layout and green. At least I have fun with relax day.
