這次來測試新款Callaway Big Bertha B21木桿。這是在2021下半年推出，從外型看起來是走易打，高容錯的風格。桿頭外型是御飯糰的3角形設計。這類桿頭風格就是高MOI，可以讓桿頭更快回正，桿面觸球可以比較方正。所以這類產品就是以新手、假日球友和高差點為主。

而它利用的技術大多是目前epic上有的東西，比如AI桿面，Jailbreak/桿面後面2根棍子。只是外型上有不同。我測試的木桿是10.5度，搭配原廠55克的桿身R硬度，長度在45.25“。實際感覺這木桿的長度會稍微短一點，因為桿頭視覺上很大。會覺得身體和桿頭離很近。換個角度說就是，這桿頭適合裝長。要想打遠，這樣的桿頭特性是可以讓你發揮易打、高容錯和遠距離。

所以如果再長一點會比較好，但如果以使用角度來說，這樣的長度是比較容易控制球桿。而桿頭上有一個配重螺絲設計，可以讓球友依據自己對揮桿重量的要求來進行調整和更換。這是比較方便調整桿頭重量。如果你長度設定比較在乎，可以把長度設定到你要的需求，對於重量感就可以自行的取調整。

我使用Maxfli的3層surlyn表皮的球款來進行測試，看看能否得到比較好的距離結果？我測試約20球，然後隔天再打20球，觀察擊球的結果和數據表現。首先，我最喜歡的是這個桿頭的回饋。它的回饋感比epic要更好。擊球在甜蜜點和周圍的熱區都可以感受到中球的位置和擠壓球的感覺。

爽度滿分，很舒服也可以明顯知道打在桿面的哪個位置。同時也可以感受到球被擊中，球彈出去的回饋。相當熱血的一款桿頭回饋。這部分就很值回票價了！可以感覺Callaway這3年來的桿面技術越來越成熟，把以前Epic Flash那種鐵板一塊，逐漸修正到目前的擊球爽度破表的狀況。實在要給個讚！

This time I try out the new Big Bertha B21 driver indoor and to see how this driver is different with Epic and Mavrik? This driver is released in mid of the 2021 and is targeting for entrance and high handicappers with forgiving, and easy to swing features. The head looks bigger with triangle shape with maximum MOI and other Callaway driver head technologies including AI face and jailbreak.

The demo driver I receive is the 10.5 loft with 55 gram regular flex shaft, the length is 45.25". Physically it looks bigger with the length combination. I would say to make it 45.50" will be better fit with such head size and length ratio. The head has the weight screw to adjust the head weight that golfers can change the swing weight of the driver by themselves.

I use 3 layer surlyn golfer ball from Maxfli balls to see how this driver can deliver the distance and feel? When I play the first 10 shots, it's pretty solid feedback and you can feel where you hit on the face. I like this driver's feedback and more fun with interaction. The feedback is good with compressing the ball then releasing with bouncing feel. I would say the feedback is better than Epic drivers.

My swing can 100% control the driver without problem as my hitting area is on the center hot zone. Even it's off swing spot of the face is a little hard feel and overall the feel is impressive. I would say if your swing speed is below 100mph, it will be a good partner to play and you can handle it easily without difficulty or overloading.

下集開始。

我打這個木桿都可以輕鬆的打到桿面熱區，就算偶爾沒有打到甜蜜點，在根部位置會感覺比較硬一點的回饋，而整體在桿頭回饋上是很優，值得給讚！所以我覺得如果你的揮桿速度低於100mph，這款木桿會讓你用起來特別有感。打起來比較容易去和桿頭互動。

另外在距離的表現上，就沒有那麼驚人。我打這木桿的起發角度在14～17度範圍，像我在打3木的角度範圍。所以距離可能因為彈道高度而影響到飛行和滾動距離。最好的距離是240碼，打多在230碼左右，飛行距離在200～210碼，滾動距離在20碼。所以打這支木桿都在240碼以內，主要在用這支木桿我得到的smash factor在1.36，我其他木桿都在1.46，完美的數據是1.5。所以反應在距離上就是短。

也可以說我一般都是用aftermarket的桿身，所以可以提升擊球效果，同時球在飛行過程和滾動效果都可以有效提升表現。這也可以解釋為什麼要優化球桿需要訂製和使用桿身廠自己發售的產品，OEM的桿身就是讓你可以打，但要去更多的效果和感覺就需要找進階的產品。我自己用其他配置aftermarket的桿子距離都在240碼，最好可以得到260多碼。距離一直都是在這裡打轉。

同時我也用3層球款來做為測試球，讓性能上不會差太多。但這樣的結果確實令人失望。也可以說目前的問題點就在桿身這部分。因為桿頭是原廠，也無法做調整或改變。球也用的不錯，規格對我使用也是可以接受，打到桿面的甜蜜點熱區都在8成左右，而得到的結果就是比較短。這桿子的擊球倒旋在2400～2700rmp是非常不錯的結果。但倒旋也只有20碼的效果，實在不給力。以飛行效率來說，確實不及格。

但也不能要求oem桿身去做到不可能的事。以OEM桿身來說已經是不錯的數據結果，這也是我會升級桿身的原因。揮桿重量是D2，確實容易打，也不會太耗體力。所以一般球友都可以駕馭的球桿和享受擊球樂趣。但對於距離來說就是有提升的空間，只是市售的桿身可以給你的空間是非常有限，桿頭是不錯也得到應該有的效果和回饋。只是距離就是無法說服我的地方。

The distance is not very impressive, I only get maximum 240yards and average distance is about 230 yards. The carried distance is about 200~210 yards and rolling can get 20 yards. It's not impressive result on using the multilayer golf ball. Since the smash factor is only 1.36 compared other drivers such as SIM2, and Epic drivers I can gain 1.46 that can make the distance over 250 yards easily indoor.

My launch angle with this driver is a little high from 14 ~17 degree, it's like using 3 wood. The back spin is good around 2500rpm. However, the distance is not as good as expected. When I hit it solid but the distance is not bouncing to 250 yards and still under 240Y with disappointing. The swing weight is D2 that is good for average golfers and weekend golfers to handle.

However, the distance is not as good as other drivers, it will be the issue for the golfers to consider for upgrading the shaft to aftermarket. There is only shaft to be upgraded in order to improve the distance result particularly the flying efficiency and productivity. I would say the shaft with mid/high trajectory and 2500rpm is good enough for OEM. If you need more distance, aftermarket shafts should be the one to gain more distance.

I think Callaway is moving the right direction to get more market shares on the driver development but it needs to address the distance more and further for average golfers since it's critical for them to get every 1 yard they can. If the distance can not meet my requirement, no matter how the feel is I would not consider at all, period!
