現在維持每週打2場球的頻率，讓自己的能力和經驗都可以再提升。這次選擇Cayote Ridge球場，也是問這邊的朋友和老外同事，都推薦這個球場。因為比較難也可以一個人開球車打，今天打高溫90幾度/30多度的天氣真的有點軟腳。訂1點開球，開車大約要30～35分左右。有點小遠，到球場差不多12:50，拿了球車鑰匙就可以上場了。

因為它們的會所在整修，所以有一個拖車，工作人員在裡面處理訂場和相關事宜。到了還不知道是處理check in，轉了一圈才知道在這個拖車處理。這個球場的會所看起來比較好，有在管理，有巡場人員開著球車繞來繞去。這是我第二次看過有這樣，之前打westridge也是這樣。所以這個球場的管理比較到位。不能再隨便打27洞了，但今天這種高溫，要我再打27洞我也不要。都快中暑了。

這個球場的地形就是典型的山地球場，球道高低起伏，有點讓我想起臺灣的八里球場和中國的廣州麓湖球場。前9比較簡單一點，但有幾個洞卻又非常有挑戰和有難度。但它的球道是我目前在德州打的球場來說，最窄的！沒錯，就是讓我想起在中國和臺灣那種變態的球道設計，你視野看不到果嶺，同時也不能開球太遠，需要打準度。哦！這種天氣加上沒有風，我真的頭發熱。

這裡的球道沒有平的，沙坑也多到爆。水池也是我在德州打的球場最多的一個。到處都有。我覺得這個球場根本就是高爾夫球的墳場。因為我前9就發現一個狀況，這球場不需要距離，要準度和控制球的能力。前9的5桿洞我都可以2桿打到果嶺邊，一次還直接打上果嶺。因為這裡濕度低，高溫，所以球可以飛更遠。我開球都可以過250碼到270碼，所以三木也可以220碼以上。

而重點是它的球道窄，兩邊都有樹林和出界區。非常難！我都是打太遠。所以後9我就用3木開，而且不需要用力打，就輕鬆、放慢速度打，把球放在球道上就好了。全力打都打穿球道。一堆球道中間有水溝或凹進一塊。如果方向不對，一定出界或下水。當然我在找球，自己的球沒有找到，卻找到一堆球。所以說它是球的墳場，真的太貼切了。

我自己打的好處就是可以一人打2個球。有時候開球不錯，就會在球位上，打2個球，一個是原本的球，一個是加打。當練習，可以讓實戰經驗提升。這個球場我前9，開完球就是P桿。它的總長6300碼，雖然短一點，在這種天氣下距離可以提升5～10%，實際打的距離感覺像6000碼的球場。中距離的桿子用的也不多，長距離的也少。多半在3桿洞才會用到。

這個球場的三桿洞就2個字形容“變態”！果嶺小就算，還把旗桿插在靠水池邊，非常機車的位置。更重要是它還有像一些球場有高低落差。有時候是開球臺高，果嶺低。果嶺也不好推，地形起伏很大，容易滾過頭。雖然起伏還沒有到變態等級，推起來是非常有挑戰。果嶺速度是超過10，很快，但我反而推的好。3個洞一推，而且有2個洞是長距離推進。

Texas is the paradise for golf, I have been trying to play twice per week for getting more experience and skills. This time I pick Cayote Ridge golf course. I check with my friends and colleagues for golf courses, they recommend this course for tough play that drives my intension and passion to challenge. I book 1pm tee time and it's driving over 30 minutes from my place.

The clubhouse is in decorating so the check-in is located in a trailer and take me a while to recognize it. This golf course has the staff to check the play and kind of organized. This course designs like hill side style that the fairway is up and down without flat area. Moreover the fairway is not wide that you need to shot the ball with accuracy.

Since this golf course for white tee is 6300 yards and the air is kind of dry today. It would allow the ball fly longer which is good but it's not good for this golf course. Most of the par 4, you can not drive too far since there are waters or creek, trees and bunkers as the out of bound area. I have some tee shots landed to the rough or tees.

In the back 9, I use my 3W to tee shot and make the ball lands on the fairway without problem then it's easier to drive my second shot to the green. I can find many golf balls in the rough or trees since this course is tough for the landing spot, if you miss a little, you get damage or lose the ball. That's why if you pay attention on the rough or trees you can find some golf balls without difficulty.

The par 3 holes are very challenged since the green is not big and the flag is always near the water or difficult spot. It makes the shot more challenge and if you make the mistake, you can't make the par. The green is also not flat, it's up and down on the certain spots and the speed is over 9 with fast green speed. I like fast green speed and I make some 1 putt to the holes.

下集開始。

我今天出界和下水4個球，撿到8個球。我喜歡它們的果嶺設計，非常有挑戰，有狹長型，也有寬扁型。加上果嶺周圍不只有沙坑，還有水池，稍微偏一下就bye了。雖然他們每一洞都有高低差異，但它們洞和洞都有一個距離和間隙，要打到別的球道機會比較少，就算有，也不會打到別人球道的正中間，球多半落在球道邊和樹林和樹林的間隙。

這樣的設計才正確，台灣一些球場球道上下沒有間隙，很容易球打到別人球道的中間。非常危險。這裡雖然設計類似，但卻有一定程度的保障和保護。我的球就算歪也在樹林左右。樹林就是要起到保護其他球友的作用。這個球場是我看到很多球道或球友在開球喊Fore的此起彼落。其他球場基本上很少見和少聽到。所以可想而知，這個球場的難度是頂尖！

打完球下午4:20熱到爆，水也喝光。一刻也不想留，直接開車收工回家。我個人覺得如果這個球場可以把距離拉到6600碼會最好。很多4桿洞才300多碼或300碼，我真的有機會可以把球放到果嶺邊。但它的球道設計真的是非常變態。很少在德州的球場是從開球台看不到果嶺位置的，加上我第一次打，根本就是盲打。自己的經驗就是拿3木開球。不然到了球道上真的就吐血。

還有它們的球車也不錯，也有配備GPS液晶螢幕。所以很容易抓距離。目前好的球場都會配置這類裝備。下次我如果缺球就來這裡打。有幾洞在草叢裡都是不少好球。我2隻手拿不完。如果帶一個袋子來裝就滿載而歸了。另外這個球場是管理和維護上比較用心。草的狀況都不錯。果嶺雖然有幾洞鋪沙但推起來還是一樣快，而且球不會亂跳。是一個值得來挑戰的球場。如果距離再拉長，就是變態等級了。

我個人對這個球場設計不是很認同。在美國的球場風格都是讓人打起來覺得有挑戰，也不會太難。兼具各種功能和樂趣。不是以難倒球友為目的。反而是休閒、娛樂和交際為重點。而這樣的球場風格像台灣和中國的球場難度，其實不適合美國人的習慣。可以看到很多容易掉球的草叢或溝裡都不少球。因為這樣設計是不合理、也對對球場設計不熟的球友是不公平。因為我有好幾洞都打過頭，進草叢或樹林。不是準度不夠。而是對球場設計不熟。

台灣和中國有球僮，可以提供球友打球的建議，和看球，拿球桿。這些優勢在美國是沒有。都是我們這類稱不上半桶水業餘球友要看球、找球、看距離、看風向、自己帶球桿....所以球場設計讓球友打的挫折或無法發揮技術，就是設計者本身的問題。刻意要把果嶺藏起來，球道給挖溝，不能攻，只能2桿進攻，或在木桿的距離設計樹林和出界。

我打過設計不錯的球場。不是因為它難倒我，或是設計變態的難。而是讓我佩服或是讓我上當和看到自己的弱點。還想再來挑戰克服。球場設計者要瞭解一個道理，就是永遠讓球友可以有選擇的機會，不是你只能打一種方式。這樣就限縮球友的發揮想像空間了。這樣的球場我打一次就算了，不會想再來。因為我知道如何打，要打好，不是太大問題。

Today I lost 4 balls with out of bound and getting into the waters, but I pick up 8 balls from the rough and trees. I like their greens that are very challenged with different shapes. Of course, there are bunkers and waters surrounded. If you did not bring your accuracy and consistency, saying goodbye to your golf ball.

The green is built on different hight that makes the putting more fun. The each hole has the trees to divide and make sure the balls would not go to other fairway. Since this golf course is tough and I can hear golfers saying fore all the time but the ball is not jumping to other fairway. That's good design as the range of fairway and fairway has space and trees to resist the ball flying over.

The average golfers can't control the body and swing accurately so the mis shots are all the time. With that, the designer of the golf course needs to make sure the ball would not go to other fairway to hit the golfers. There are a number of golf courses in Taiwan and China having the design issue that the balls are always flying to other fairway to make golfers' life in danger. I had such experience before.

That's why I always check the golf design that is related the golfers life. Personally speaking if the total distance can be over 6500 yards, it will be more challenge and fun. The current distance and design make golfers to lay up without the chance to target the green. Moreover, there are many holes you can not see the greens since there are the uphill on fairways and dog leg designs to hide the green.

If you are new for this golf course, it's better to bring some golf balls for losing. The distance is not the key mission, but the accuracy and consistency play critical to make your ball alive. The good thing is there is GPS panel in the golf cart for golfers to refer the yardage. That's very friendly feature for helping golfers make up the strategy and pick up the right golf club to target.

To play this golf course, you have to be certain skill, experience and golf level, it gives you the tons of impacts for your mental and physical. If you can't make your tee shot on the fairway or iron shots are not consistent, it's better to play other golf courses for more practical and consistent your swing first. This golf course is for advanced golfers to see what's their problems and shortage. The other benefit is the course is well organized and maintenance! That's the plus.
