存粹力量的代表～Ping

高爾夫有不少大品牌，而大家耳熟能詳的品牌，也脫離不了Ping這個走自己風格的產品。Ping是一個以走個人規格調整的品牌。我不歸類它是個人動作球桿的品牌或產品，因為它並沒有做到訂製球桿那樣的細膩和全面。但至少在大品牌裡，它提供的個人化規格調整是比其他大品牌要更多和豐富。

Ping的產品我也是固定會買來測試和玩，雖然不是每年都買，但只要它的產品有比較大的變化和改變，就會想要買來玩看看。看看它的技術提升的幅度和空間。但我這次不是要去討論Ping的技術到什麼層級，而是討論它的產品特色和風格。這樣對於大家比較有幫助和可以對於這個品牌產品有基本瞭解。

我早期也對Ping的產品定位是球具訂製，但在近10年來就逐漸瞭解它的核心價值和技術。它的產品設計和技術都其實相對其他品牌來說是；簡單、容易和直接！為什麼？你看它的產品從10年前到現在，其實變化非常小，最多外型的改變，鐵桿的變化真的很小。設計風格就那幾種。

而且它對新的技術或材質的接受度是所有品牌來說最低。舉例來說，對於可以換桿身這類的快拆技術，它和很後面才開始使用。桿頭的可以調整配重的技術也是比別人要晚。再來就是，現在TM和Callaway都陸續用碳纖維材質在木桿類產品上，它還是走單純鋼材或鈦合金材質的硬派風！

它的木桿類的設計風格就是那種，扁寬風！以前還會有深桿面的饅頭桿頭風格，針對中低差點的球友，但後面就只有寬扁桿頭的風格。雖然這類桿頭的容錯和易打都是比較好，也是目前高爾夫木桿類的產品主流。但其他品牌還會有搭配進階版的深桿面，或小一點尺寸的桿頭來針對動作穩定的球友。而Ping就是只有這種產品，你沒有得挑。

There are many golf equipment brands, I think people know Ping as the golf custom club brand. Ping's golf clubs are able to allow you to do some customizations for the lofts, lie angles, weights, lengths and grip sizes... Although it's no 100% custom golf clubs, but you can try to build your own specification through Ping's system. At least they are the only company to offer the personal specification for golf clubs.

I used to play Ping. Although it's not buy Ping's gears every year, if I see the new clubs with big jump on technologies or designs, I will get it to try then find out what's the pros and cons. After using 15 years of the Ping gears, I realize one important thing for Ping's golf clubs, it is the simple, powerful and direct image.

Why? Ping's golf club design has been very simple without big change so far. If you check its products in recent 10 years, it's not big change or stick on one or two club head designs. For drivers, it's shallow face with big head size and the material is set as titanium since the beginning without changing.

For irons, it's blade and cavity all the time but the main design of the head is the same. That's the reason I believe Ping's gears are direct and simple compared other brands, Ping has its own principle on golf clubs and the material is stuck on default.

How about the usage, feedback and performance? That's important for golfers who need to get what they want through the golf clubs. With my experience, it needs to have certain power and speed to drive the ball long compared with other brands. If your swing speed is not good or fast, you would not get as good as Callaway and Taylormade gears performances.

那這樣的產品用起來會和其他品牌的木桿有什麼差別或優勢？我的經驗是你需要有更強大的力量來把桿頭的效能發揮出來。因為存粹的鋼硬的材質桿頭，要發揮就是要力量來驅動。如果你的力量和速度不是太高，就看看就好。因為這是我多年來的經驗和觀察不同球友的心得結果。當然這也建立在基礎的力學和材料學上。

如果你的力量不錯，自然可以得到不錯的效果。當然我覺得和其他T牌和C牌都是差不多的距離效果而已，也沒有一些網路炒家說的不可一世。更實在的說，我覺得它們家的桿頭不好打，相較於其他T和C的產品，它需要更大的力量去得到不錯的距離。這對於動作不穩定的球友來說其實是一個盲點也是障礙。

把自己的小宇宙燒到快融化，速度加快點去得到和其他T和C牌driver一樣的距離，就容易動作失誤或吃球的位置不在甜蜜點上。距離反而沒有得到，但方向的偏差卻滿格。我也嘗試去配置不同的桿身和規格來解決這個問題，但其實效果不大。因為這就是一個硬底子的桿頭，你沒有實力，桿頭爆發力就是出不來。

也就是硬派風格！所以老外用Ping的產品就虎虎生風，原因也在這裡。因為他們的技術或動作或許不好，但就是有力量，硬把桿頭的效果炸裂出來。就我知道的朋友喜歡用Ping的產品都是木桿揮桿速度超過100mph。當然這樣的速度都可以輕鬆得到260以上的距離效果。

產品各有千秋，技術也是有好有壞，但關鍵在於這些技術和產品是否有以你的動作和身材去設定？沒有建立在你個人的使用習慣和風格的桿子，就算再牛的技術或產品都一樣烙賽。如果你瞭解品牌和產品的特性，就可以避開一些雷包。這是你要做的功課！

Speed is critical to use Ping's drivers! If your driver speed is less than 100mph, it's better to consider other drivers that are easier to drive the distance and better forgiving advantage. Since the head is pure titanium, if your speed is not strong enough, it's unable to generate the power of the head. That's why Ping has powerful tour players like Bubba Watson to represent its products.

Comparing TM and Callaway drivers, I think it's friendly, easier to drive the distance than Ping's drivers. Since they are using composite materials such as graphite to make the head more easier to generate the power. That's the favor for swing speed below 100mph golfers. For me, I prefer to play TM and Callaway drivers to get the distance.

Every time I play Ping G410 is frustrated since I have strikes solidly but the distance is not as good as TM's M6, and Callaway Mavrik. I set up similar driver specification and shaft profile, but it's always shorter than M5 and Mavrik. If your swing is not powerful, I think trying other brands and drivers should be good for you.

When you speed up, it's always off the center of club face on striking. That's why I do not like to play Ping golf gears, but I have other friends who enjoy Ping drivers and irons are all driver swing speed over 100mph. That's the condition to get the ball flighting longer like Bubba. I am not saying Ping's product is no good, but to get its pure power and distance is based on your swing speed.

Before purchasing the golf club, you need to know which brand and products are fit your swing profile then you are able to benefit from it. It's not chasing the new technology or new products to get the good distance. That's why get fit is so important for golfers instead of chasing the brands or new technology.
