倒旋和彈道高度決定你這桿子的特性!

現代化的球桿,尤其的木桿類,對於桿子的特性都會有幾個特性可以觀察。一就是手感回饋,二是彈道、飛行軌跡,三是距離結果。而現代化的桿頭和桿身都在一個關鍵裡打轉,就是“倒旋”!倒旋有多重要,它決定你的球速、飛行軌跡和落地滾動性。所以在現代化球桿裡,分析倒旋量是非常重要。

影響倒旋量或產生倒旋量就是人的擊球速度,和觸球方式。在球桿來說,會影響倒旋的結果在桿頭部分,就是桿面設計和桿面角度。在桿身就是桿身材質強度、硬度等。所以我們看擊球的模擬器得到的結果,不能單純看一個部分,而是要去看整體的東西。這樣才能知道原因和解決之道。

現在新的桿頭設計都集中在幾個環節裡。一個是擊球倒旋減低,加上是低重心。這樣可以讓球容易飛到空中,同時具備低倒旋的快速衝力。效能上的表現會更好。球質效果會比10年前的桿子要更好。我在近5年所用的桿子比如TM、Callaway、Ping都是這樣的設計和表現。桿頭的倒旋量比以前的桿子要低20%以上。

桿頭角度其實現在的桿頭都做得更精準了。尤其桿頭標示10.5度,實際角度會是11~13度都有。但現在我自己量測的結果(幫球友們訂製和自己的球桿)都在1度以內的誤差範圍。為什麼會這樣?因為現在桿頭效能越來越有好。不需要去做大角度來讓桿頭可以更易打。因為把桿頭重心拉後,擊球反彈的角度更好。

同時擊球的初速可以更好,這樣球可以更容易快速飛到空中。如此距離就可以立竿見影。而桿頭重心這塊就可以看,目前桿頭設計都是把桿頭重量集中在底部,上蓋改用輕/強化的碳纖維材質。這樣桿頭重心更容易去拉後。所以桿頭在重心、角度和材質都有明顯提升,才能讓擊球倒旋可以壓低,提升球速。

Nowadays wood are focusing on three important fields, one is impact, second is the trajectory, and third is distance. Let's look into the details, if you check all the product descriptions, the woods' heads and golf graphite shafts are all concentrated on spin rate! How come is it so important that all clubhead and shafts are talking?

Spin rate is critical since it's related with the ball speed, flight pattern and rolling after landing. These three factors are all related the distance. Distance is always the thing golfers are trying to gain. Everyone wants more distance in order to get the good score. That's why the new woods are talking about to reduce the spin rate.

To effect the spin rate and generate the spin rate is your swing speed and impact. In terms of golf club, to change the spin rate is on golf club head and shaft. The golf club head is on loft and face material. The shaft is related with the materials and flex. Therefore, when we look at the spin rate from launch monitor, we need to know it's overall result on spin rate.

Now reducing the spin rate can bring better distance? The recent 5 year's wood head design is all about reducing the spin rate and low and back center of gravity. Since such design is able to allow golf ball flight fast and launch easier to the air after striking. With my recent 5 year's drivers from Taylormade, Callaway and Ping I have got similar results on the spin rate.

I compare with the drivers over 10 years, the spin rate is reducing over 20% that means, the ball speed is fast, more penetrating and better rolling distance. That's why I can maintain the distance without losing and sometimes I can get longer distance when I play woods. The advantage of new woods design are used carbon crown to save the weight and allowed the weight on the sole with low and back CG design.

再說到桿身部分。桿身在大量運用高噸位碳布材質後,桿身強度提升,也讓擊球倒旋大量減低。因為碳纖維桿身會得到比較彈的反饋,現在在高噸位碳布材質桿身的運用下,桿身的反饋就沒有太大的折點和彈力作用。但不是說桿身沒有彈的效果,而是彈的幅度非常小,但桿身的效能比沒有高噸位碳布的要好。

就比如,你要跳遠,需要助跑才能跳的最好的距離。但當你鍛鍊你的身體和強化下半身,你不需要助跑,定點跳就可以比以前助跑跳的距離遠。同樣道理,因為材質的提升和強化優勢下,高噸位碳布就是可以讓你威而鋼!當然副作用就是你不會像以前桿身那樣有很多反饋和變化。

擊球的桿身反饋就變得比較簡單。這不是不好,但對於很多senior球友,揮桿速度沒有很快,比較利用手在操控球桿和享受桿身變化的打法,就會變得無法去掌握桿身的變化。當然還是有一些日系桿身也會把桿身的彈性或折點做的比較明顯,維持一些桿身特有的回饋。但這類的桿身其實裡頭的高噸位碳布材質比例是相對低很多。

因為材質特性就是強度高,如果要特別去有彈性感覺出來,勢必要利用更多碳布強度低的材質去產生彈力效果。所以我對這類桿身都不會去考量。因為這類桿身首先,不耐打。很容易打軟,同時倒旋也會比較高,球容易打高。穩定性會不好。所以我都會選桿身以高噸位碳布材質為主的產品。

所以桿身材質決定了擊球倒旋量和它的彈道高度。當你在看一支桿子,在近5年的產品時,從這幾個方面下手,就可以瞭解這個桿子的效果和表現。而這年頭已經走低倒旋、快球速和彈道像飛彈型的飛行軌跡。這才是科技和材質的產物。就算你揮桿速度不快,一樣可以得到這樣的結果!

The recent shaft development and design, it's using high module carbon fiber sheet on the graphite shaft that increase the shaft strongness and less deformation with low back spin and low side spin features. In other word, the shaft feedbacks less without too much bouncing feel. If you like to have more shaft feedback during the swing, it's not what you can gain from.

That doesn't mean the shaft is not good without more feedback. Since the shaft material increases the bouncing power and with the same swing speed but you can get more power and energy from the shaft. It's efficient and productive compared 10 years ago shafts. That's the advantages from the technology and materials.

Of course, there are some Japan brand shafts, they still have more fun on shaft feedback but such shafts are not using too many high module carbon fiber sheet in the shaft construction. They use regular carbon sheet to increase the shaft feedback then you will feel more feedback from the bending point of the shaft. It tells you the good and expensive materials are less and regular material is the majority.

However, you still pay high price for such shaft with less high module carbon sheet inside. That's the key for selection the graphite shaft. If you would like to get low back spin and low side spin for your performance, it's better to select the shaft with carbon sheet at least 40t strongness. Any shaft material lower than 30t carbon sheet is regular strongness.

Therefore, selecting the shaft is key for gaining the performance. You need to know what shaft and what wood head are good for you to get the low spin advantage. If you do not know to leverage the new technology and new materials on golf, you won't be able to have good result. Even though you do not have good swing speed, but you still can get the ball flight and ball speed like bullet!
