Driver桿身和球道木專用桿身有什麼差別？

這也是朋友問的問題。有些日系桿身品牌會有球道木專用桿身，而價格就比開球木桿桿身要便宜一半。真的假的？當然球道木桿身的桿身長度比一木要短，如果你想要拿球道木來裝在一木桿頭也不是不可以。但你覺得桿身廠有這麼傻嗎？這不是拿石頭砸自己腳嗎。

一般來說，或從以前來說，只有driver桿身產品，沒有球道木桿身。基本來說，都是以driver桿身進行裁減來裝在球道木上。所以沒有分什麼球道木，還是driver桿身。但近幾年來，一些日系桿身品牌開始推出球道木專用桿身。球友們就有一個問題，那球道木桿身和一木桿身有什麼差別？

先說廠商角度，球道木桿身的價格比一木桿身要低。你說羊毛出在羊身上，你會得到一樣的產品質量嗎？就算是一樣的款式，不見得球道木的桿身材質和技術會完全複製。那廠商不就是虧大了！所以在成本上就不可能會一樣的東西。

再說到規格，球道木的長度比driver要短，所以球道木桿身的長度也比一木桿身要短至少2“。所以這些球道木桿身的廠商都已經設定好，當球道木桿身裁減到你可以使用的長度，桿身的重量是在多少範圍？這都已經在計算裡。所以才有球道木桿身。

而球道木桿身的設計只是讓組裝技師，可以方便和容易去進行桿身裁減。也就是說，driver桿身要用在球道木上，往往要對桿身前端進行裁減。而裁減的空間多少，雖然廠商有裁減依據參考。但就我個人組裝和使用的經驗。都不準。因為裁減多少，需要觀察使用者的動作和技術能力來決定。

One of my friends asks me, there are fairway wood shaft from some Japanese shaft brands and the price is half of the driver shaft, is it ok to purchase? What is the difference between driver shaft and fairway wood shaft? Furthermore, can we use fairway wood shaft on driver head?

That's smart question! First of all the fairway wood shaft is different with driver wood as the length is shorter and the flex is not as driver shaft. Of course the shaft weight is different with driver shaft. Of course, you can put Fairway shaft to the driver head if the weight and flex are fit your swing profile and demand.

If you are shaft maker, would you make such shaft to create the conflicts for your customers? I don't think so. The shaft maker is the same way as fairway shaft is good for clubmaker to assemble the club and easier to fit the shaft profile. That's the main trend for the shaft. The majority of the wood shafts are driver shaft and to tip on the shaft for the right flex with fairway woods.

Technically the fairway wood shaft is simple version of driver shaft, that's why the cost is cheaper. If the material and technology for FW shafts are the same as driver shaft, it's big loss for shaft maker to gain the sales and profile. In terms of production, to make one product is able to have less cost, but higher productivity and efficient. Thus over 80% of wood shafts are driver shafts and to tip the right length for the fairway wood use.

The shaft makers provide the tipping instruction for his details/workshops, but practically it's not too much helpful with my experience. Since golfers are different in physical body and swing. That's why I do not follow the instruction when I build the fairway woods for my customers. But with fairway wood shaft, it's easy for us to just cut the shaft butt and assemble. No need to worry about the tipping and flex issue.

球道木專用桿身就是，桿身前端不需要裁減。要裁減從桿身後端。只要選對硬度就可以。其實對於技師來說是比較容易和方便。有點像是素人版的DIY套件！對球友來說，一點影響都沒有。而硬度上就比較貼近桿身官方的設定。

如果用一木桿身來進行球道木組裝，這就是純技術活，很吃技師的技術和經驗。球道木對多數球友使用都是超難，打起來膽戰心驚、那不大、亂飛、很正常。對我來說，我會依據球友本身使用能力和揮桿穩定性來進行調整。讓球友可以在一個範圍值內去發揮，不會用起來時好時壞。

桿身廠的裁減數據就是參考。我多數沒有遵照廠商的裁減數據去做。如果照桿身廠的裁減標準去做，10之八九客人都會打的東倒西歪！也會硬度也不容易掌握。

我個人認為，球道木和一木一樣重要。因為都是要打出長距離。所以桿身的材質、技術和設定都息息相關。我沒有用球道木專用桿身，我都是用一木桿身進行裁減。這樣的結果比較容易掌握和穩定。這方面的設定經驗也比較充足，知道要如何趨吉避凶！

球道木桿身用起來，球容易打到空中，但性能沒有一木桿身來得好和穩定。應該說球容易打高，卻缺少爆裂般的性能效果！桿身強度感覺沒有driver桿身那樣紮實可靠。側旋和倒旋會比較多。所以選擇硬度可能不同於driver桿身。

如果你口袋深，就用一木桿身來裝球道木。這樣可以得到的結果和一木是一樣。多數球友覺得球道木打的次數不多，所以可以用一般的桿身。要不就是一木的桿身退下來，裝到球道木來用。如果你是這樣的想法也沒錯。那球道木要打好也很難。


只要你用得到的桿子都要認真和好好去設定。你少用是因為你避開不要這些桿子。而你對桿子不重視，也導致當你在使用時心裡拜菩薩、禱告的求可以打中打好。這都是互相和同理。 很多開球不好，就是球道木出場的機會。它不好，你的成績也不可能會多好。把它給升級好，它才會回報你！

With my experience, the fairway shaft is easier to lift the ball to the air, but the performance and ball speed are not as good as driver shaft. That's why I don't use fairway shaft. If you can play good on fairway wood, do yourself better to fit with driver shaft for your fairway.

In terms of assemble, fairway shaft is easier to setup for clubmaker as it's flex, weight and no tip to install. It's like consumer DIY kits to follow the instruction for assemble.

On the other hand, the driver shaft to fit to the fairway is required highly skills, knowledge and experience on shaft profile and analyzing golfer's swing. If you follow shaft maker's shaft tipping instruction, it would not give your customers the good feedbacks as it might have the spin issues, flex differentiation and ball trajectory.

By using the driver shaft on fairway, it's good to have the performance like your driver and more reliable on shaft strongness for less spin and fast ball speed. If you have budget, I would suggest to use drier shaft on your fairway wood. You will get the solid performance on fairway wood.

Most of golfers are using other golf clubs to avoid using fairway wood, but it's not going to change the fact you are unable to handle and perform the FW well. You need to do more works and get fit on this club then you can have better result to expect.
