桿面倒旋到底是什麼?
高爾夫裡面有很多因素會影響你的擊球結果,而比較深入的細節就是擊球的倒旋。擊球倒旋是和你的打法,球桿有直接關係,而它的數據好壞就影響你的飛行軌跡,飛行距離和滾動距離。這也是技師會在意的因素。當然很多的球友都知道桿面角度就是會產生多少倒旋量有關,但桿面角度不是唯一會影響的東西,今天會討論桿面設計和材質。
首先,不管是木桿還是鐵桿都一樣,桿面的材質和設計都會影響到你擊球的倒旋量。就算一樣的桿面角度但不同材質也會有不同的倒旋量。同時桿面的設計包含了,凹槽和表面的粗燥度和平滑度都是會直接影響倒旋量。有些木桿標榜低倒旋,就是給速度快的球友使用,但外觀看起來也沒有什麼不同。但差異就在細節裡。
比如,這些低倒旋的桿面凹槽設計有些是雷射刻出來,並不是真的有凹槽出來。有凹槽就可以在觸球時產生更多倒旋量。另外凹槽設計不在中間的甜蜜點和熱區裡,也說明打到熱區是可以得到更少倒旋量。如果在中間位置有一些線或槽,都是增加倒旋的因素。但如果是雷射刻的話,其實不會產生太多倒旋,只是比用筆畫的要在強烈一點。
如果你用手去摸桿面就可以知道桿面的平滑和粗燥的程度。這樣就可以影響到擊球的倒旋量了。比如有些鐵桿的表面是設計比較粗燥的觸感,這就會產生更多的擊球倒旋量。如果你要打得比較高的彈道或要更好的果嶺停球能力,這就是比較好的選擇。所以別認為,桿面都是差不多,很多的設計和訴求都藏在細節裡。如果你去仔細觀察,就可以發掘這裡的秘密。
而在桿面的觸感這部分,我也做了一個實驗和測試。這樣比較可以讓大家瞭解到桿面觸感的差異,對於倒旋能力是有直接的關係。這也是球具廠商們在桿面上做的秘密。這次我是用Ping i500 7i/Project X LZ 6.0 鐵桿來進行測試。我做了一個動作,就是在桿面貼上一片擊球位置的貼紙,這樣可以去觀察桿面擊球位置。

There are many factors made up the performance and result. With clubfitting, we need to look at the details in order to find out the right problems and further to provide the suggestion. The ball spin ratio is so important for the distance, trajectory and accuracy. Today I am going to talk about the face spin rate and you can try to check what your golf club's spin ratio.
No matter it's woods, or irons, the face design and material are related with your ball spins. Even it's the same loft of the club face, with different face design and material will come out various spin results. That's why we need to know about that in order to find out what face design is good for your swing. Of course the face spin can be generated through the face groove but it's not all.
For the driver and woods, the face might have laser engraving lines or grooves. It's not actual groove but just engraving the line in order to reduce the impact spin rate. The actual groove will of course, get more spin rate but by using laser engraving, that's much less then the groove design. When you look at the driver's center, there is no groove or engraving since it's the hitting hot zone or sweet spot.
Hitting the spot on the center is key and if there is the engraving or groove on the center of the club face, it will create more spin for sure. Thus if the company wants to give you more spin rate, they can do something on the face center to make more spin without problem. The other way of making the face more spin is to create more rough feel.
If the club face is smooth, it's always the less spin or low spin design, but for average golfers with the irons, you will need more spin to make your ball landed on the green without rolling over. Now I make the experiment at indoor with foresign GC 2 launch monitor to demonstrate the face differentiation related with the spin ratio.

下集開始。
有貼這個貼紙就會影響到擊球倒旋量。我貼這個貼紙的擊球倒旋在3500~3800rpm (foresign GC 2 擊球模擬器)。沒有貼,會減低2~300rpm的轉速量。而擊球的飛行距離在145~155飛行距離和15碼左右的滾動距離。總距離在160~170碼左右。我打很多球,也沒有馬上把貼紙給拿下來,反而放一些天,再拿下來。而貼紙和桿面就非常的黏。至少拿下來是桿面是有黏性的狀態。
這個狀況是我刻意要做出來。因為這樣桿面的表面就和一般狀況有比較大的差異。也可以視為這是桿面比較粗燥的設計,以達到更好的倒旋能力。這樣對於一些想要把球打的高和停球效果提升。這時候我再進行擊球,得到的結果就非常明顯差異。飛行距離在135~145碼,滾動距離約10碼,總距離在150上下。倒旋量和彈道都變高。倒旋為7500rmp+-300rmp。300~500rpm對距離就影響到1~2碼距離。sticky
這就是桿面觸感的差異結果。而我持續打擊有50~70球後,飛行距離提升到快要和原本有貼貼紙的狀況。距離也慢慢回來了。因為不斷的擊球,就會把桿面的狀態給磨平掉。而這就是鐵桿的另一個狀況,你的桿面會越打越平滑。導致倒旋量的下降和滾動距離越遠。這都是鐵桿桿面的正常磨損。木桿桿面也一樣只是耗損程度和你的擊球頻率有直接關係。
所以我常說,鐵桿和挖起桿是兩種球桿對桿面磨損最快也最嚴重。因為它們會碰觸到土,沙和草等物體。這就會影響到擊球的倒旋量。尤其是挖起桿更是如此。挖起桿的桿面更容易磨平滑。所以我的挖起桿都是半年換一個頭。有些日本鍛造的更軟,更換速度更快。因為桿面磨損的速度更快。所以你要讓你的短桿聽話,就是定期更換就沒問題。
或是我會有一套專門下場用的桿子,一套練習場用的。這樣你的桿子的桿面狀態就可以維持在比較好,對於倒旋的控制和表現就可以掌握好。所以下次看到廠商說它們這套或這支桿子是低倒旋時,別再似懂非懂的覺得看不出來。實際去摸看看,觀察桿面設計和凹槽,就可以發現這是低還是高倒旋的桿面設計了。
I use Ping i500 7i with True Temper Project X LZ 6.0 flex to test. I put the sticker on the face, that sticker is able to identify the ball hitting spot on the face and I have 3500~3800rpm back spin range, 145~155 yards carried distance and total distance 160 ~ 170 yards. I hit about 15 balls and let my friend hit it over 30 balls then put it couple days without removing the the sticker.
Couple days later, I remove the sticker and hit the balls with the results, 135~145 yards carried distance, rolling about 10 yards and total distance is 150 yards. The spin rate is over 7500rmp. Since the face is sticky after removing the sticker and that makes the face generate more spin than smooth face condition. Since 300~500rpm is about 1~2 yards distance different.
That tells you the face feel is to create the various spin ratio for golfers. Some wedge or irons are row face that can generate more spin than smooth chrome face. I keep playing about 30 balls, the spin rate reduce and distance gets back like before. Now it gives us another information, once you play more shots and your club face become more smooth, the spin rate will reduce.
That's why I replace my wedge every 6 months in order to maintain the good spin rate in short game. Or you can have two sets of irons and wedges, when you go to driving range you play the old one, and you play in golf course with your best condition set. That's the way to keep your golf clubs sharp and controlled.
Since irons and wedges are the clubs wearing the sands, grass and rocks all the time, the face is easier to wear out and becomes smooth after a certain of time and plays. Some forged irons and wedges are easier to become smooth on the face since the material is soft. Now you know how to identify the face spin rate and try to check your golf clubs to see what's the spin rate you have first.
