LAB Mazz 1 推桿心得！

LAB推桿是我今年上半年比較專注的產品。由於用了B2後就整個愛上，當然就開始選它其他產品來一個個玩。先選外型我覺得還不錯的Mazz 1來看看和B2的差異？外型是Mallet/高MOI的設計桿頭，配合上它的Lie angle balance/仰角平衡技術，可以讓球友推起來更加穩定。桿面觸球會穩定的方正。這也是我為什麼要來試的原因。

B2是傳統桿頭設計當然可以得到比較好的控制效果，對於不同桿頭是否也是如同B2那樣？Mazz1價格是450美元，現在可以在一些美國連鎖球具店看到和買。我訂是一般規格34“， 69 lie angle，黑色鋼管桿身。原廠握把有一點角度設計，讓握起來握把是和桿面是平行。因為桿頭是中插設計，有水平角和lie角的傾斜設計，所以如果沒有握把去把角度修正，你的握把就不是平行桿面狀況。

這也是LAB推桿自己特殊握把設計！我會先用看看原廠設計的規格來玩，下場推個2場後，會更換碳纖維桿身和握把，來調整整體桿子規格，讓桿子可以更好操控和使用。另一角度就是瞭解原廠桿子的設計理念，看看推桿的特色和技術能否輕鬆發揮？這桿子握起來感覺對我來說有點重，握把很舒服，好握，整體的感覺很不錯。

推起來很容易感覺桿頭的重量和掌握桿頭的移動，只是對我用起來有點長。我習慣的推桿長度都是在32.5+-0.25”，所以後面會進行規格調整。我第一次下場用它，非常的猛。實際推起來真的很簡單、容易和輕鬆。中短距離真的很殺！長距離的效果也不錯，比起其他品牌的Mallet/小烏龜桿頭的距離效果要更好，只是鋼管桿頭的距離效果在尾段就容易會失速停下來。

我必須說它的握把真的讓我在瞄球上更容易。桿面有點後移但握把可以容易對準桿面，所以真的把瞄球變簡單和容易。我就是因為這樣下場真的推起來簡單和快速。讓我印象比較深是距離效果要更好，對長距離的掌握更容易得到效果。以手感來說，明顯感覺沒有B2那樣的柔軟舒服。非甜蜜點的回饋比較硬，當然甜蜜點的回饋還是軟。

After using LAB B2, it's so impressive on the performance, feel and control. The lie angle balance is really good for average golfers that reduce your palm and arm controls. This time I pick LAB Mazz 1 as the appearance is so sharp. Of course the design is different with B2, the mallet head design is easier for golfer to control and putt.

B2 is traditional style with more personal skills and control on putting. I am addicted with B2's putting feedback that is like butter. This time Mazz 1 is aluminum for the body that is different with B2's stainless . I order it online with 34" length, 69 lie angle and black steel shaft. It comes with LAB grip with special degree on the aiming. Since it's shaft inserted so the grip needs to adjust the angle for golfer to grip and aim.

When I grip, it's so comfortable and soft. I am confident to put with my path without difficulty. The head is not heavy as B2 but you can grip it and put without difficulty. I am using this putter for 2 rounds to see how this setup performs and manage? More importantly I am able to know what exactly the developer of the Mazz1 thinks and intends for golfers?

First of all, the putter is too long for my style, my putter is 32.5" plus 0.25" or minus0.25". The stock Mazz 1 is too long for my usage. Meanwhile, the putter weight is kind of heavy to me that I need to use more power to control the putter. These are the things I need to adjust later. In terms of performance, it's great! the distance is better than other peers from the major brands.

The mid and short distances are very sharp for me to target and get in. The only weakness is the steel shaft makes the distance short and shop in the end of the path. Of course it can be replaced graphite putter shaft to improve. The feel is soft but little harder than B2. I would say the feedback is also the advantage for Mazz 1.

另外讓它回饋沒有很迷人,是桿身材質八字造成，鋼管八字就是硬，可以更換桿身來提升爽度，看自己高興。這個桿頭對於桿身的震動超明顯，硬度超過我小手負擔，導致推擊手感像按摩棒一樣。市面很多推桿選的桿身硬度都太硬了，鋼管的重量就已經重了，硬度還那樣硬，對手無縛雞之力的假日球友，推好是中樂透，沒推好是正常發揮。尤其在中短距離和快果嶺上的使用，需要以柔克剛碰球去產生滾動，桿子回饋是要命的重要。

而這樣的材質特性（重量和硬度）對短距離方向和距離掌握，往往會出現很搞笑的結果！心裡念力啟動；呼喊同組朋友快喊OK，不然肯定烙賽。當然，LAB推桿接受訂製，可選用碳纖維桿身比如Accra桿身要加150美元，或LAGP桿身要加350吧。我有到我家附近的連鎖店去試配置Accra碳纖維桿身，媽啊，感覺比鋼管回饋要再猛，一個字“硬”，觸球的桿身震動頻率從大到順暢而已，滾動表現有好，距離上一階。算了、Accra桿身和我無緣，打算用我自己的碳纖維桿身。

我改造的幾個重點在：1.推桿重量需要重新調整，把總量調輕，同時把重心轉移到桿頭，桿子的任督二脈打通，推起來就如魚得水，不讓手臂和手掌握得好像榔頭的吃力。2.握把買原廠這種帶斜角來配，沒用過，這次來嚐鮮。3.選碳纖維桿身重量不要超過100g，同時桿身重心在前端，讓桿子的重心靠前端。推起來容易掌握桿頭移動，不會來個桿頭飄移、甩尾。

桿頭拆下來，發現桿頭重量沒有想像的重。B2的桿頭重量在380g（重量級），而Mezz1才356g（輕量級而已），有點扮豬吃老虎。以現在桿頭重量都比以前要重多了，350g都上不了檯面。356g只能說一般重量。所以對桿身的選擇變得關鍵、硬度也很重要，美國這邊的桿身重量和硬度，不管是碳纖維或鋼管都設定誇張硬、重。阿是每個球友都是健身猛男，怎樣感受到觸球的feel。

考慮了幾款桿身，千挑萬選，用了LAGP鐵桿用的桿身來配，也是搞的我人仰馬翻，耗損幾隻桿身才把桿子的夢想8字給磨出來。這心酸過程裡，有一個重點和棘手的問題，就是LAB推桿的獨家技術；桿頭的桿根朝下/Lie angle balance。因為桿子的規格，桿身和握把改變後，桿根朝下狀況就沒了，所以我確實花不少時間去解決，這是技術活，非常難搞。

Honestly the Mazz 1 impact is not as impressive as B2, the feel is little harsh but I think it's caused by the shaft. The shaft is steel material and most of retail putters use heavy and stiff steel shaft to fit the putter head, it makes the impact so quick and hard for golfers to interact with the golf head. For me, putter feedback is the way to work on the mid and short distance.

If you can 100% interact with the putter head, it's hard to get the ball on the right path.That's why I used to reshaft and custom my putter specification. Of course, LAB putter allows golfers to custom the putter shafts and they have Accra and LAGP graphite putter shafts for golfers to select but there are upcharged with $150 and $350. It's up to golfers's preference.

I go to my local PGA superstore to check LAB Mezz1 putter with Accra shaft combo, it's still hard but the ball rolls better in the end of the path. That's the material advantage since graphite shaft is able to make the impact vibration to the least and also increase more spin rate for better rolling distance. I just give up to reshaft Accra shaft after the tryout.

To reshaft and custom my personal putter specification, there are some keys for this task. First is the shaft weight and flex, my putting style needs to make my arm and fingers loading as low as possible. Therefore, to select the shaft weight with 100g or below 100g is the target. The shaft also needs to be tip heavier to make the putter weight concentrate on the putter head for better control.

The second is to pick LAB putter's official putter grip in order to fit the shaft inserting head design. I haven't used that before and let's see how it works for my putting style. The Mezz 1 head weight is just 356g that is lighter than B2 380g, it makes the shaft center of gravity become very important. I select LAGP iron shaft to fit the Mezz 1 head.

Since the shaft fits my expectation and requirements on the shaft CG, the difficult part is to maintain the lie angle balance since I have changed the length, weights and shaft, the original lie angle balance is gone so I spend certain time to set up the lie angle for the new Mezz 1. I don't suggest average golfer to do such work personally, it's better to send back LAB for adjustment.

下集開始。

重生後的推桿，下場的結果就讓我嘴角一直上揚！嚇死人了，桿子的效能和操控完全變身，戰力爆表，握在手上，桿子的靈動力和手指、水乳交融，對距離和滾動效果要壽的穩！一推機會不再遙不可及。我後面就比較少用這桿子，因為信心指數破表，沒樂子。KPI設定完全達標，握在手上很輕鬆，手臂和手指放鬆握、擺動肩膀，桿頭路徑一氣呵成。結果和桿數要異常都很難，所以我反而用另一支LAB Link 1比較多。

這桿頭設計就是走“易推”、好“掌握”。算是缺點，在於桿頭的瞄準線有點鳥！瞄準線會碰到中間桿身插入位置，導致在推的時候，瞄準線無法延伸到後面。視覺被桿身給擋住，變成我推壞的最好藉口。另外有些球友對這個桿頭設計有點跳痛，但我卻愛不釋手。它的簡單、直線條，加粗曠和紮實的線條感。視覺不會錯亂！

想騷包的話，放心，它有開放桿頭顏色訂製。要弄一支騷包、吸睛的推桿，這裡就對了。近5年來這推桿算是最平均、好用的。一來我重新調整規格和更換桿身，把推桿8字大改，整體效能不是只有達標，而是破表。非常適合我的推法和身體。溫存幾次後，推起來對掌握和回饋就是爽。柔順回饋完全是吊打原廠鋼管或客制的accra桿身，和傳說的GSS有過之而無不及。長話短說，如果Lab推桿不是你的規格和需求，也只是半吊子推桿。

它的黑科技就是非常吃“桿面和目標”成一個“垂直”設定，要發功，需要讓你的身體和手完美結合球桿。不然18洞下來，也只能偶有佳作而已。改桿子不難，重點在改了後，黑科技還在！因為我搞了3支LAB推桿，哪些竅門我算熟門熟路。要不就是進原廠改，不要爽爽改，最後桿子的特異功能也改沒了。

目前除了原廠外，應該也沒有幾個師傅有神功或秘笈去調整。我沒有原廠的協助和技術指導，用自己的Mezz1和link1摸索神功來，2支桿子都成功調整和維持桿根朝下。後來也幫朋友Link 1重調規格和換桿身，無縫接軌神功護體。推桿是我這幾年的提升重點，而今年前6個月採購和改裝，5支推桿，對推桿能力和技術想不好也很難。

要推好有幾個步驟； 1. 推法和身體需要有8字匹配的桿子。2.掌握推桿，才能推出需要的路徑來。最後是要會讀果嶺和看草紋。要循序漸進、走捷徑離走火入魔就不遠。現在經驗多了，要推壞也很難！最後，我都不怎麼用它，好用到沒有挑戰和樂趣的桿子。氣不氣人！這樣下去都沒有藉口可以買新機斯了。所以我不用了、可以吧！

The new reborn Mezz 1 putter got me so impressive on the first round. It's so consistent on the striking and distance. I would say it's the most easiest putter I have ever played. The new Mezz 1 putter's total weight is lighter than before, more importantly the putter's center of gravity is on the tip side that helps me control much better than before.

I am easy to initiate the putter and control the putter head through the whole down swing path. That's how you can make sure the striking is on the right spot and direction. I made 29 putts for the first round and about 4 holes with 1 putt. If I play more rounds, I believe I can make it to 26 putts without difficulty.

If LAB can make the Mezz 1 aiming line better, it will be so easy for golfers to aim and manage the head movement. The head is very balance with Lie Angle Balance technology that helps you reduce the face open or close during striking. The graphite shaft I am using is so soft that eliminates the impact vibration and deliver soft feedback to your fingers.

Therefore, the shaft weight and flex are extremely important for golfers to get fit. You will feel different and become more confident on putting. The grip is also an important key for control and impact, The size is good for me to grip and the soft surface enhance your control with better feedback. I am happy with 3 keys of custom Mezz 1 and it accomplishes nicely.

The other side story I need to address, since its lie angle balance technology makes the head heel down. It needs to send the putter back for custom or reshaft in order to maintain the lie angle balance on the right spot or tuning the head weight. I custom and reshaft for 3 LAB putters including 2 Link1 and 1 Mezz 1.

I spent lots of time to fine tuning the head in order to get the right lie angle balance. I don't recommend individual or clubmaker who doesn't have the experience of LAB putters to do any reshaft or custom services. You may not be able to get back the lie angle balance for the LAB putter, it's better to send to LAB for all the hand works.
