木桿設計的2大族群：全鈦合金、複合式碳纖維！

目前木桿的2大陣營就是，鈦合金（金屬類）和複合式（碳纖維）2種。2023年來說，2大陣營的楚河漢界非常明顯，到底你適合什麼？還是哪一種可以得到比較遠和高容錯的結果？這些木桿的價格都差不多，但材質特性和做工質量都會影響你購買的決定。這是很多球友的問題，我今天就來聊聊這些問題和分享我自己的經驗。

首先來討論有哪些品牌在各自的陣營？基本上複合式桿頭大多都是大品牌，因為複合式的材質需要比較多的工序和成本。對於一些小品牌或日系品牌來說，都很難加入。而金屬桿頭就就是以Ping和Titleist為主。當然後面還有一堆的日系品牌支持。以量來說，金屬桿頭還是是市場的大宗。但球桿市場不是產品多就贏，主要還是要有效和吸睛力。

複合式的首推為Taylormade和Callaway。它們兩家在近10年來的產品都是主打碳纖維材質桿頭，讓桿頭的重量可以更加集中在特定部位，有效控制桿頭重量和提升桿頭的易打特性。這2個其實就是一個，因為結構設計可以做到這2個特性。這些都是複合式材質桿頭的優點。那缺點？缺乏擊球的手感，相較於全鈦合金的桿頭來說，全金屬桿頭的擊球撞擊回饋就很爽！

其他方面我個人覺得沒有明顯差異。金屬材質就以Ping， Titleist和日系品牌Srixon、Bridgestone、Cleveland等。當然台灣球友比較熟的日系小品牌，就是金屬材質為主。金屬材質的生產方式比較成熟，成本也相較複合式要低。所以會有一些小桿頭廠可以配合日系小品牌的需求。不過桿頭的設計和變化就相對小，很多桿頭的設計看起來都大同小異。比如Ping的木桿，我看15年來真的差不多，只有細節上的差異。

我個人在這10年來都固定買Callaway和Taylormade的木桿，所以對這兩家的產品有清楚的瞭解。對於Ping和Titleist就不定時會買來玩。加上我自己品牌的700-Chien也是全鈦合金材質，在這塊也是從20年前就有深入的研究和使用。我必須說在手感上，各有千秋，個人喜好沒有對錯。我只會就大的特性上去討論。而我上面所說，全金屬的桿頭就比較有撞擊感！爽度滿格。

Today I am going to discuss the driver/woods head materials for golfers that you are able to find out which type of head material is the best for your gamer? Of course, the prices of drivers are similar with major brands in 2023, therefore to know some fundamental knowledge is key for your.

There are two major groups of driver/wood head materials; first one is the titanium and stainless of metal wood, the second is composite head with carbon fiber material. We do not have problem of metal wood since it's been the market for over 30 years, but for composite wood, it becomes more famous in recent 10 years with advocates of Callaway and Taylormade.

The majority of the woods are metal but composite wood is nominating by Callaway and Taylormade. These two brands are highly recognized by golfers. Is the composite wood the future of the woods? I have been playing Callaway and Taylormade drivers and woods for over 10 years and I purchased the customized the drivers with myself, I can really share what I have got for you.

For metal woods, it's clear the advantage is on the feel and performance. Titleist and Ping are two major supporters. The development of the metal woods are very mature that means the cost of manufacturing is lower than composite woods without question. There are lots of Japanese brands in the group so I don't think you are not familiar with.

I needs to say the design of metal woods are very similar, there are not much different on the design of appearance. If you check Ping's recent 10 years' drivers, you can barely find the differentiations. That's why I give up the metal driver and started playing composite from 10 years ago. You can really find the change of the wood development through composite. Of course, there are always problems on composite but I can see their movement and improvements.

我可以感受到複合式桿頭的進步，從近10年來，Callaway和Taylormade的木桿不斷的改進和提升下，現在的產品真的是越來越成熟，問題也解決差不多。以下就是我對碳纖維桿頭的使用多年評價：

1. 高容錯： 很多球友會說，金屬桿頭容錯也不錯。這是對的，當你用近3年的碳纖維桿頭產品，就會感覺確實不一樣。非甜蜜點的結果真的不會偏太多，以前碳纖維桿頭會有不穩定或擊球產生過多的側旋和倒旋。但現在的複合式桿頭把這個問題都解決差不多，非甜蜜點的擊球結果和甜蜜點是差不多。如果你的擊球精準度低於50%，這個功能就非常重要。

2. 易打性： 碳纖維桿頭的重量重新設定和分布，可以讓桿頭在使用上變的更加好控制和提升桿頭速度。同樣用鈦合金桿頭，比較後，在揮桿過程會需要過多的力量去操控球桿和桿頭的路徑。這是我個人得到的最重要結果，如果你用球桿經驗不多，很難體會出來。同時要能調整球桿去比較球桿特性差異。

3. 桿頭變化和顏色也比較多元和豐富： 以Callaway的木桿來說，它的桿頭變化，尤其在外型和顏色上的變化是很明顯。Taylormade的設計就大同小異，差不多就長那樣。但它們會出很多客制款的顏色，讓球友可以選喜歡的顏色。這也是我固定每年都買Callaway的木桿來玩，二來我也是Callaway的訂製師，對產品的熟悉度和取得也相對容易。

就我的使用經驗，以前複合式桿頭的性能是明顯無法和金屬桿頭相比。但近10年來的產品，已經給彎道超車了。現在複合式的桿頭桿面，可以有效把擊球的倒旋壓下來。球速上也更噴！這些原本是金屬桿頭的招牌，現在都被別人給超車。而且碳纖維桿頭有一個優勢，就是對於揮桿速度和節奏不快的球友來說，簡直就是救命藥丸！

Let's talk about the composite drivers, in recent 10 years' development and products, it's obviously the progress for composite woods. The products become more mature and some of the problems got improved sharply and now I can't play the metal due to the composite is better performance and play. Here are some features and advantages for composite woods.

1. forgiving - I think golfers would say the metal woods have the same feature, I agree so. But if you play recent 3 years' Callaway and Taylormade drivers, you can feel things are really different and it's forgiving for average golfers. Particularly the off sweet spot is still good on the distance. If your striking accuracy is below 50%, I think you are able to benefit from it.

The old composite drivers generates more spin rate and side spin, if your swing has the mistake, you can see from the result clearly. But nowadays composite drivers can make the impact as small as possible. That's how you can get the confidence from the cutting edge equipment.

2. easy to play and control - the composite head is able to distribute the weight more concentrating on the specific spots and make the head easier for golfers to swing, manage the golf club. In short, it can help you swing fast during the down swing. Compared with metal head with the same size and weight, it's hard for golfers to handle the golf club during the whole swing.

You need to play various drivers in order to feel the differentiations and have the ability to reset and fine tuning the specification of the driver.

3. more colorful and features for golfers to customize - You can go to Callaway and Taylormade website to see there are lots of customization for the driver head, you can build your own driver with more color selections and weights adjustment. Callaway driver heads are changed significantly every year and that's why I love to purchase Callaway's new driver annually. You can explore more surprise from the new technologies and features.

That's why I can't go back to metal woods since composite drivers make me better and easier for golf. I find no reason to switch back. Distance is key and now I can drive the ball long easier than metal. More importantly, the mistake from my swing, the damage is still acceptable.

金屬桿頭就是需要完全的力量去把性能給擠爆出來，這對於年輕、有力量的人來說就是無縫接軌。我年輕就覺得我的真命天子就是金屬桿頭，不考慮別的。但當你的年紀超過40，體力和力量都在下滑時，這時候碳纖維就是不二人選。因為桿頭的設計、重量分布、使用操控都得到提升，對於揮桿速度和節奏不快的我，真的是第二春！

我現在的速度和節奏都明顯比年輕時要慢，但距離效果沒有差太多。因為我現在的揮桿穩定性和擊球精準度都比以前要高太多。求質比求速度更重要！中年大叔的唯一法寶，就是打準、求質。而我用複合式的TM Stealth，Callaway Rogue ST， Ping G410，Rogue ST和Stealth都是最好的距離結果。Ping有時候大中，吃到甜蜜點就可以爆遠！但可遇不可求。

而且就算失擊，Rogue和Stealth都有不錯的距離和抗失擊能力，但金屬的G系列就bye、bye了。另外我在測試數據上也發現一個狀況，複合式的桿頭速度會比較快。實際用的感受上，複合式比較容易控制桿子，力量更容易去爆發。Titleist的TSi2也打過，因為Ping G系列和TSi2都是扁扁大大，用起來會比較吃力，力量需要更大來帶桿頭。所以力量速度不到一個程度，用這類金屬桿頭不會得到最好的距離結果。

簡單說，你用金屬桿頭需要實力和速度。但如果你是走技巧和擊球穩定性風格，碳纖維桿頭會是讓你1+1大於2的產品。 當然球桿規格和桿身配置也很重要，但這上面的因素都是改不了的事實。就算利用球桿個人化的訂製，也最多把上面問題的影響程度改善。所以我現在都是用碳纖維桿頭，不會考慮金屬桿頭。

今年看看Paradym木桿能否讓我驚訝？對於TM Stealth 2木桿，整個外型就是SIM2 的改色版！從藍色系變成紅色控， 實在是騙錢。所以比較期待Paradym的到來，但Callaway那邊說要到2月底才能收到，到時候再和大家分享！

The metal wood needs to drive your power in order to perform the best result. It's good for young and powerful golfers to embrace the metal driver, but how about the age over 40 with less swing speed golfers can do? The answer is composite driver! Since the advantages of composite driver head is to allow golfers to control and swing better.

The metal driver head is complete titanium with certain weight, compared with composite head with carbon materials on the crown and sole to save the weight and redistribute it on specific spot. That will help golfers swing easily and fast with my experience. When you are able to control the head movement, you can manage the striking point from the face of the head. It's the key!

In order to maintain or drive the best distance, striking accuracy is key for smooth swing tempo golfers. With my experiences, I have played Callaway Rogue ST, TM Stealth, Ping G410 in past year, Rough ST and Stealth provide the best result and accuracy. G410 is good but needs to swing hard for maximum distance. That's why I don't play metal driver since 5 years ago.

In short, metal woods are good for young and powerful hitters. Composite is the Viagra for smooth swing golfers or slow swing speed people. If you are more skilled golfers who are able to manage your swing with good striking accuracy. You should not hesitate to pick up the composite head for your gamer. That is the golf club you can really control and deliver the maximum distance.

I have seen composite woods gained a lot of improvement and progress. I don't think other head type for my usage and keep trying the best composite driver head annually. Callaway paradym driver is going to be released in late of February and once I receive, I will share what I get for fans. Are you ready for the new golf season?
