Ping G710 iron!

Ping G710這款黑炭頭看起來真的很耐看。設計把刀背的肌肉線條都抓得淋漓盡致。雖然可以瞭解這是一款凹背或半凹背鐵桿設計，就是讓人想多看2眼。Ping的鐵桿設計一直都有自己的風格和美感，加上2片式，中空桿頭設計也是Ping的主力，這幾年下來，可以看到不少Ping在這塊產品的亮點。

我只能說Ping的東西就是獨特一格，有它自己的粉絲在。G710的7鐵外觀來看，和TM P790比較，它的尺寸也比較大，桿頭上緣也比較厚。所以基本就是一款假刀背真凹背設計。走外型取勝。在規格上，桿面角度是29.5度，790是30度，所以差不多。710是桿子長度37“， 790是37.25”。基本上也是差不多。

這樣的長度不會讓身體和手臂在揮桿過程當中負擔太大。從此可以瞭解它的設定就是走易打，好揮的假日型球友的使用。測試為室內，使用Foresign GC2的擊球模擬器。我得到的擊球起發角度從24～27度範圍，倒旋量是超過6500rpm，飛行距離為135～140碼，滾動距離在10碼左右。

這樣的結果看起來和其他中空鐵桿的結果差不多。和790比較，790在距離會贏過5碼～10碼。一來790的飛行距離會比較遠一些，同時790的倒旋量比710低500～800rpm，所以也會滾的比較遠一些。這就是差異，如果倒旋可以壓低，球飛行的效率會更優，落地會比較能滾。當然不能滾太遠。

鐵桿我個人覺得，把彈道給打高，落地角度低，倒旋低，可以讓球可以飛的更遠一些，卻不會滾得太遠的問題。這也是我目前對鐵桿的設定要求。而能做到這樣的任務，基本上就需要碳纖維的桿身，尤其是aftermarket的桿身產品。因為aftermarket的桿身是桿身廠直送收藏產品，品質和規格設定比較明確。容易達到技師要求的功能和任務。

對於擊球回饋這塊，710就如同打一塊鐵板。是我今年測試不同的鐵桿來說最差的一個。非常的贏和不舒服。我已經挑比較舒服的Project X LZ桿身但還是一樣像打石頭。一般來說，打這類中空桿頭可以比較明顯感受到桿面回饋和彈性，但這款710卻不怎麼明顯。我把桿頭螺絲拆下來看，裡頭有不少膠。應該就是裡面灌滿不乾膠導致。擊球回饋都被膠給吃掉。

而710的易打性是真的不錯，就算打到非甜蜜點位置距離都可以很容易出來。完全把凹背鐵桿優點發揮出來。但我個人認為，這桿頭要提升性能、操控和回饋，需要從更換進階的桿身和調整規格做起。這樣可以把目前710的問題給解決到一個程度。不然這樣的產品程度只能是半吊子，很難和其他品牌來對抗。因為其他品牌的相對應產品完成度都比710要高很多。基本可以說完勝。

而710唯一的優點就是價格比790便宜15元左右。但我覺得一支鐵桿便宜$15是還好。如果沒有得到我要的需求比如距離、手感和容錯等，這樣的價格我也不太會考慮。我個人覺得Titleist T200和TM 790都是強大對手，同樣中空設計桿頭，價格稍微貴一點，外型設計一點也不會輸710.但你會得到更多和更完整的產品等級。

G710 is the typical hollow body design with black PVD coating with 2 piece body and face combination. It's a little offset made it so forgiving and easier to lift the ball to the air. Personally it's the club I am looking for since the distance is very important for me on irons.

I have been trying forged irons and hollow body irons in this year, the result and data are showing better fit with hollow body irons. G710 is bigger and wider of the sole than Taylormade P-790 iron, it's morel like cavity design. The loft of 7i is similar, 790 is 30 degree, G710 is 29.5 degree.

I would say it's similar design to the specification. The Length for G710 of 7 iron is 37", 790 is 37.25". I believe these lengths are easier for golfers to control without giving too much loading on the body and arms. It's testing indoor with Foresign GC2 launch monitor.

I have resulted with 24~27 launching angles, spin rate over 6500rpm, carry distance 135~140 yards and rolling about 10 yards. That's pretty much the same with other hollow body irons I have tried recently. TM P 790 is little better than G710, the distance is about 5 yards longer. Since the 790's back spin rate is 500~800rpm less than G710.

Here is the key element for iron setup. I am not professional golfers and just an average golfer, to get the maximum carry distance for irons, I have to get high/mid launch angle and high trajectory then land the green with high landing angle in order to stop and drop the green.

但我個人認為，這桿頭要提升性能、操控和回饋，需要從更換進階的桿身和調整規格做起。這樣可以把目前710的問題給解決到一個程度。不然這樣的市售產品程度，只能是半吊子，很難和其他品牌來對抗。因為相較其他品牌的相對應產品，完成度都比710要高很多。基本可以說完勝。實在挑不到理由選710.

Regarding the feedback from the iron head, it's so harsh! I have been trying a number of 2021 irons and this one is the worst feedback I have tried. Technically the hollow body should have better feel since the face is more bouncing when contacting the golf ball. I remove the screw from the toe, there are so glues and that's the part of reasons why the face is not so good.

Since the hollow body is like wood head design, the face and main body are two pieces design. When you hit the ball, the face is more bouncing than forged iron which is the solid stainless material. But if you put lots of glues inside the iron body, there is no room for face to bounce. This part is the thing I can not accept!

However, G710 is very forgiving as the design looks blade but the head is cavity to hit easy and long. Even though the off sweet spot, the ball still can fly long without difficulty. I would say it's good for weekend golfers to enjoy the golf without spending too much time on driving range.

If you like G710 and would like to improve its feel and performance, you have to reshaft and reset the specification. It will become totally different iron. Honestly this iron is hard to compete with other peers such as Taylormade P790 and Titleist T200. They are all hollow body design but the feel and performance are much better than G710 with my experience.

The advantage is the price, it's $15 lower than P790 per iron, but I really don't care that $15 if I am considering to purchase the right iron for myself. If you try other brands' hollow body irons, you will know why I don't like G710. Ping's irons seem to have its own way and I can't convince myself to get it.
