球道木也要超過43“嗎？

球道木一直是業餘球友最有挑戰的桿子。難在於它要在球道上使用，同時它的長度是僅次於一號木。所以球道木的規格變得非常重要。成績要好，球道木就要打好。

對我個人來說，我對球道木的重視是僅次於driver。因為這兩隻桿都是要打遠，一支開球，一支球道。使用狀況非常明確。加上如果開球距離沒有超過260碼，球道木距離多半在220碼以內，對於長的距離球場就需要常用到球道木。

如果你打超過6500碼的球場，球道木打不好，成績就好不起來。所以我每次練球一定會練這兩隻。隨著現在技術和材質的進步，木桿越做越長。這對於使用就變得非常有挑戰。這也是我今天要著眼的地方。長度對使用上的重要。

我從以前到現在，球道木的長度就設定在43“以下。5木在42”以下。我也做過和使用不同球道木的長度，從42“～44”都有用過。但讓我打起來最順就是42.5“。長度超過43.25“，就很難控制和打的精準。而距離也不見得會遠多少。

或許你會說43”以上，可能我配置和桿頭重量沒有搭配適合，導致使用會不順手。這點我也特別找桿頭重量比較輕的3木來配置，但實際用下來就是打不好。下桿時，桿頭也不容易掌握和控制球桿。導致結果就很鳥！

目前慢慢有些球道木，尤其三木都設定超過43“。我認為43”對於多數球友來說已經是使用上的極限。因為桿子長，對於你在控制和身體負擔會非常大。如果你不是身強體壯或是天天泡球場的怪咖，那43“以上會讓你很難打到甜蜜點。打不到甜蜜點是發揮不了距離效果。

不管桿身用多輕，長度超過43”，會讓難度增加數倍。可能我悟性慧根不夠所以打不好。當然現在還有像mini driver這類設定長度接近44“（43.75”），雖然可以開球台使用。但如果你會考慮在球道使用就先打看看，有多少比例的擊球精準度？

Fairway is critical club and very challenge! The difficulty of fairway wood is the length and it's the second longest club in your bag. Therefore, to play this club well is important to make your score low.

If you play total distance over 6500 yard golf course, you need to have good ability on fairway woods, since you have to deliver long second shaft. Without enough second shot distance, you are barely to make the par. Even though you have no mistake on tee shot and second shot, but without enough distance, you can't reach the green on two strikes.

That's why I think fairway wood is very important club and I strive hard on make this club long and easy to play particularly my driver distance is under 260 yards. Of course, if I play distance under 6500 yard's course, I am able to handle well. but over 6500yards, I would need to play lots of fairway woods.

Nowadays the fairway wood's length is over 43", for me I have been trying the length from 42"~44", and the best length for me to handle is 42.50". Length over 43" will be unable to maintain the consistency and accuracy. Of course, the distance will be a little longer for over length FW, but it's not worth if I can not have over 80% of striking sweet spot ratio in play.

That's the key for play clubs. No matter your shaft is lighter or total weight of the club is light, if your length is over 43", it increases the difficulty of workability and club control a lot. That's the fact you need to evaluate before using over length FW.

Moreover, over length FW will increase your body loading and you would spend more energy to play and maintain the swing. If you need to play FW frequently, you must set the length ideally. Otherwise, you will lose the faith of playing FW.

不管是開球用的mini driver/driving wood，我一樣都設定在42.5“。打的生龍活虎，爽度破表！因為我只在乎要打到甜蜜點。打到甜蜜點，就算短1”一樣讓球連滾帶爬的讓我滿意。這也是球桿設定的基礎。

好不好用和用起來有沒有信心才是球桿的關鍵！長度絕對是我設定球桿第一個會看的規格。這個不對，重量也不會好到哪。因為這個因素會影響你身體如何去施展，讓球桿對身體產生的負擔。

你可以花一年或以上時間去練好43“以上的桿子，但實戰上有沒有辦法收放自如，就看你自己的身體和實力如何去面對。而球道木已經成為我僅次於一號木的最穩定的桿子。我的鐵桿還沒有木桿類的穩定。

每一支球桿都有它的長度極限，因為它的桿頭重量會限制它的最大長度。同時在效能結果上，每一支桿子的桿面角度，會影響到它的飛行和彈道。這些技術因素就是決定你可以打多遠的結果。

所以大家要抓住一個核心觀念；就是我必須要把這支桿子打到”甜蜜點“，才能有最好的結果。撇開買來的桿子長度多少，重點在你能不能有超過5成的擊球甜蜜點？不行，就要去找方法和和專家討論。低於5成，那下場打球肯定發揮不出桿子的距離。

你可以自己花時間去找答案或試不同桿子，因為失敗和錯誤會讓你知道更多和抓到重點。就是花點時間和金錢。球道木你可以掌握好，其他球桿也不會是問題。但長度永遠是你要在意的因素！

Even though it's driving wood, I can play it well with 42.5" 3W. I only focus on striking the sweet spot of the club face, that's the key for setting the fairway woods. If you can not get more than 60% of striking sweet spot ratio, it's better to look for the helps from local clubfitters.

To play your clubs with confidence is the key! The length is always the critical factor to effect your playability and workability. Of course, you can spend your time to get familiar with your woods, but you will have many swing patterns on various clubs. As a result, you would not play well for all kinds of clubs, since your swing is too many ways and it increases the mistakes and problems a lot.

The right clubs with fitting can help you maintain one swing pattern for all clubs in your bag. That's the best way to make your swing consistency and perform the best particularly for long clubs like woods. With my experience, drivers and woods are the number one and two for clubfitting and clubmaking from the customer's demand.

If you deserve to hit it solid and long with your woods, you have better to get fit first. Of course, the cost is high, but it's worth to invest on the long driving clubs. Otherwise, you will suffer a lot on mis-shots, off sweet spots and swing mistakes.

The other way is to try various woods and it will help you find the right club. But it takes time to build the experience of different club profiles. 3W is the toughest club to play and if you can work it out, there is no club you can not handle. Therefore, focusing on the 3W's length first, if you can not play well with 43", try to grip down to see how it goes?
