找球桿的第一步：瞭解產品特性/Product profile is the key!

今天來說一點比較深一點的東西。桿頭和桿身都各自有它們的目的和功能。當球桿設計者在設計桿身和桿頭時，就會定位這個產品是針對什麼樣的用戶？這是非常重要的前提，同時瞭解這個族群的使用習慣和需求，才能把產品設計出適合他們的特性來。所以產品特性就是產品本身的DNA。

人有高矮胖瘦，產品也有。現在的木桿桿頭普遍設計都有幾個標配；高容錯、多功能、調角度、調重量等。但這些多半都是看得到的東西，而看不到的東西才是關鍵。桿頭重心是影響你擊球的起發角和彈道高度。所以桿頭的重心設計一直是廠商和設計者設計核心。不管在桿面後，桿頭後面，都是影響你的起發角度。

你的擊球起飛角度會決定你的彈道高度。再來就是桿身。桿身的launch angle就會決定球飛行在空中的軌跡。球會衝高、平平的飛、還是飛到一定高度就平飛？這些都是桿身來決定。但桿子的結果很難掌握，尤其對於技師來說，沒有裝起來打，沒打過桿頭或桿身，就很難抓出這個組合的結果。因為不是照桿頭和桿身的規格數據來組裝，就可以得到你要的結果。

當然如果對一個品牌有垂直的了解和研究，就可以抓出來它新產品的可能特性和飛行的結果。因為產品都是會利用相關的技術和材質。最多就是在一些細節上做出變化。這就是好的技師是對產品有垂直的研究，不是廣度的了解。垂直的瞭解是做個人化產品的關鍵！因為不同品牌的差異是非常大。

就我自己的經驗和研究，就算是同品牌的產品，同系列的產品，在不同的重量上就會有不同和差異。比如，60g級別的桿身彈道會更低，球速不見得會更快。通常50g的球速會比較快。因為你可以擠出的桿頭速度會比60g的桿子更快。所以千萬別認為你用A產品的50g桿身，就自動認為60g的桿身會一樣的結果。

Golf club is kind of complex to talk about. Each golf club has its profile to target the right users and group. Therefore, the developer or golf club designer needs to know who is going to use and find the demands and requirements from specific groups for developing the golf club. Product profile is the DNA for the golf club.

It's like people are different on weights, shape and face. Golf club needs to be specific to fit the right users. Nowadays the driver has something in common such as forgiving, multi functions and adjustments of the angles and weights. However, the key of the driver club head. The driver head center of gravity is the key for you to make your launch angle and trajectory.

If you need to get your ball fly higher for gaining more distance, the driver CG needs to be low for higher launch angle. Furthermore, the shaft's profile needs to have high launch feature to help you get the balls to the air. That's why it's so important for golf club fitter to know product profiles in order to build the right combo.

In order to build the custom driver for your requirements such as forgiving, longer distance and easier to play. The clubfitter needs to know the golf head, golf shaft and grip vertically instead of horizontally. Knowing lots of products do not mean you are familiar the product detail and profile. That's totally different thing.

To know the product profile, you have to try it and build with your own way. This way you are able to understand the product entirely. Products with different brands make it harder to know the profile. That's why a good clubfitter can only handle couple of brands with vertical product knowledge and experience.

所以我對桿頭和桿身的變化會比較保守。除非比較瞭解和摸過的產品，才會清楚。不同品牌就不會去下結論或評論。因為不同品牌的產品表現，往往會有不小的差異。而我自己就以3個品牌為寬度的極限，對產品做深入瞭解，超過就沒有辦法。因為產品太多，也沒有時間去一一裝起來用和瞭解。這過程要花的時間、金錢、人力是絕對省不了。

另外桿身還有一個特性就是桿身的重心設計。這是大家比較陌生或不清楚的一塊。很多技師也是一知半解。因為桿身的重心設計就會決定一支桿子的揮桿重量和特性。但對我來說，一旦掌握桿身重心大致就知道這桿身的特性。或是看桿身的說明是什麼導向的產品，就大致知道它的重心設計了。這也是桿身設計上的潛規則！

知道重心，就瞭解如何去配置球桿的規格。要裝長，還是短的長度。再看使用者的打法，就可以把桿子的規格抓個8、9成了。這是有程序的做法。不是我要裝多長或揮桿重量這樣簡單。但在好的技師上，這個流程是稍微思考一下就可以得到。如果要用AI去計算可能要一些時間。因為太多變數和歷史數據需要去分析和運算。這也是職人的不外傳知識！

很多球友對這些東西不清楚，買新桿子或桿身就囫圇吞棗的配他習慣的規格。不是所有桿身和桿頭都適合裝45.5“或45.75”。為什麼你們都認為這是標準？都在訂製桿子了，還有這些標準或習慣自己配個枷鎖。太多技師都懶到只照客人要的規格去做，或直接做他習慣的長度。打的動嗎？打的好嗎？打的穩嗎？

因為解釋一堆，客人不見得接受，到後面就懶得說了。依據上面的邏輯和原理，一支桿子自然就會有最適合的長度、揮桿重量、MOI等。而這樣的規格就是要去配合適合它打法的人來用。你是用手臂打球的人和用身體轉動的打法，是需要配置完全不同的規格和產品特性來使用，才能發揮你身體最大的效能來。這就是訂製球桿的目的！

For example, with the shaft profile, the same model with 60g and 50g shafts has different trajectory. With my experience, 60g shaft is more likely flying lower in trajectory. But the ball speed is not faster than 50g but the trajectory is lower for sure. Most golfers believe the same model of the shaft should have the same profile and performance, but it's not!

The other key of the shaft is the center of gravity. It's like golf club head's center of gravity. It determines your result for the performance and trajectory. If you would like to get the right trajectory, you need to know the golf shaft's CG location? Is it on the center of the shaft? or it's close to the shaft tip? It will result different swing weight and shaft profile.

I don't follow golfer's specification to build the golf club, I would consider golfer's swing profile, body shape and product profile in order to build the right specification. The clubfitter is tired to explain the reasons for building the right specification. That's why you still play the driver that is not fit your swing without good on the fairway ratio.

As a result, to find the professional and patient clubfitter is key to get the right golf club. If you still insist what you used to be, you won't get the true performance and golf club. For example, if you swing the golf club based on your arms, you will need the golf club with weight more on the tip/head section.

If you use your body to rotate the swing, you need the golf club with balance weight for better control. There is no standard specification for driver, irons and putter. Every one is different and based on your profile, you need to find the right head, shaft and specification to get the best result! That's the key of the golf club specification.
