Trust Bison golf ball review

今年在台灣挺火的高爾夫球Trust，是道地的台灣製造和研發的產品。因為是本地產品所以也和Trust老大先進行採訪瞭解；對於高爾夫球的想法和展望。當然我自己也是做球的本業，所以可以瞭解它的產品一些技術和優缺點。

收到Trust的新款球。 當然還是Bison， 但是有進行球心和球皮的改良。和目前在Amazon和Trust官網上的產品有所不同。Trust的林總是很堅持產品的性能和質量，所以這次的球也是千呼萬喚才期盼到。 之前和林總有聊到很多做球的技術和他們的核心。但讓我佩服的是他走“自己品牌的路”。

對於這樣堅持走MIT的產品一定要來試試。因為台灣在製造的技術基本是全球頂尖的地位。當然林總是技術出身，所以對於產品的要求和一些核心技術是有信心。這也是我會有興趣它們的球原因。因為有和他見面聊過也知道他們的技術確實有別人所沒有。

他們繞過鑄造titleist枷鎖。因為Titleist有太多鑄造球皮的專利，要和他們對抗是很累。所以走另一條，射出皮革/urethane的路子來。這下子Titleist也沒轍。因為Trust當初第一筆的訂單還是來自Acushnet，48打，每一種硬度都各12打。可想而知他們是有在追蹤Trust的產品。

這次的測試產品是Bison Soft、V、X三種不同的球硬度。同時也是我會給周圍不同揮桿速度的球友們一起來進行測試。應該說這三款核壓可以針對大多數球友的需求使用。XL是給揮桿速度超過110mph的怪物來打。不是怪物也是年輕選手。

這次的核心有進行提升和改良。可以提升核心擠壓效果和方向滯空時間的優勢。同時urethane皮革這塊有對dimple/球渦進行細度的調整，讓飛行的時間和效率可以增加。而表面也進行升級的亮粉表漆處理。這個在Titleist VG3的產品也有類似的表面處理，提升表面質感。

This year there is a hot golf ball brand "Trust" in Taiwan, it is 100% developed and manufactured in Taiwan. Since Trust has sponsored couple of local golf tournaments, there are more golfers known and played Trust balls already. I am also the golf ball maker and familiar with the golf ball, it drives my interests and intention to know more about this brand.

I have talked with Trust head CEO Lin, he has been good at synthetic rubber material field and that's why he jumps into the golf ball manufacturing. With the material background and manufacturing experience, he wants to build the Taiwan golf ball brand particular tournament ball with multi layer urethane balls. It's tough road for building own brand, but he is confident on the product and look positive for golf ball demand and perspective.

Of course, the good and new products are good for me to know and share to my fans and audiences. That's why I order Trust Bison Soft, V, X, three different compressions to try out. I will share other golfers to get comprehensive feedback and experience regarding the Trust products. There is a XL model with hardest compression from Trust Bison that I did not order for trying since the compression is over 110 and most of golfers could not be able to play with such compression.

Trust Bison is three layer construction with injection urethane cover. It is unlike Titleist Pro Vs casting molding for urethane cover with many patents. That's why Trust is using injection molding for urethane cover to avoid patent violation. The first order is from Acushnet for 48 dozens with 12 dozens of each compression. It tells us that Titleist is eyeing all new golf ball company for checking its balls. If any of the company violates its patent, they will act for sure in the right time. That's part of reasons why they study the new company's products.

The products I receive are new and updated on golf ball core and cover. The new recipe of golf core helps golf ball travel longer in air time. Golf ball dimple fine tune a little on the edge for making the ball look better. Of course, the ball's coating has put shinny powders to make the the appearance better. Titleist VG3 (Japan model) has similar coating with quality image.

這樣的加工處理多半都是高檔球款才會做。因為會增加成本！當然高檔球的價位高，做這樣的處理是合理，也是產品亮點。在不同的光線下會有不同的顏色表現。和Titleist VG3（日本獨售款）是有不同。外觀的感覺比較偏藍色的白。室外陽光下會有亮光的呈現。感覺很有質感。

Bison的球渦是332，無接縫的球渦設計。模具的質量很優，看不太出來模具的接縫處。球渦也是弧形設計，可以有較好的飛行效果和飛行高度表現。模具好，球渦設計佳可以提升球的滯空設計。換句話說就是飛得更遠。

表面處理的很不錯，和大品牌的產品質量不相上下，甚至有過之而無不及。基本和目前市場頂級多層球皮革產品是一樣的質量和表面感覺。當然以它的價位，不到台幣1000元和美金32的價格是有競爭價值和優勢。

我對球有進行重力壓力測試，球受力變形再釋放，球體的韌性不錯，可以瞭解它的能量累積和釋放效果是不錯。而我也剪掉一顆球，確認核心韌性能力高。可以知道它核心配方，大致是有硬度和韌性都在一個不錯的平衡點上。核心是能量來源，所以這部分好，性能才能突出！

球皮和中間射出層都很精準。沒有偏心的狀況。這用游標卡尺就可以測量出來。射出皮厚度0.9mm，中間層1.3mm，所以產品的製造精準度是沒話說。當然越薄就容易偏心的問題。所以也是考驗製造技術的地方。薄皮可以讓球心的效能和能量發揮到最大。同時可以讓擊球在鐵桿、短桿和推桿有好的手感和倒旋。

當然不見得皮越薄就好，因為這有耐用度和磨損的狀況，也是製造商要考慮的因素。所以我個人認為，皮的需要有它的功能和效果，厚度需要適中。同時也要耐磨的功能。不然打個2洞就磨損，是很消耗。

球本身的真圓度很高，每一層都沒有偏心，皮的厚度在不同位置都是0.9mm。我詢問林總他們的公差是多少？他說10條！這是很可怕的精準度。肉眼看得到的偏差需要0.1mm。而他可以把這塊控制在10條。

到目前為主確實讓我覺得在台灣高爾夫球生產上，Trust是有其優勢和對質量的堅持。別以為上面這些東西簡單或應該。在實際的生產上，沒有堅持和高標準就做不出這些成果。

很多工廠對很多生產步驟和細節都是差不多就好，太多差不多下來，就會導致成果和精準度會跑掉。運氣好，挑出來的檢測球沒有太大問題。其實很多都是公差很大沒有被檢測到。一般人也沒有工具可以剖開球去檢測，所以無法瞭解球的質量和精準度。

With such coating, you can find it on luxury golf balls. Since such work will increase cost, for the price like Trust Brison, it's value added to make the ball quality to the top. If you put the ball on the outdoor with light, it will have various color demonstrations. The appearance color shows differently on indoor and outdoor.

Bison dimple is 332 with seamless dimple design. The cover dimple mold is good design and barely to identify the seam of the golf ball. Dimple is well shape that will help golf ball travel longer time and longer distance during the air. It's key factor of the golf ball performance.

Cover is 0.9mm, middle layer is 1.3mm. Dimple 332. It's injected for double cover. It's hard on injection for thin layer in production. As injection is high temperature of material and injects into the molding within one minute for the process. The difficulty is to make it accurate in center for thin cover.

Casting cover takes an hour to cool down for urethane so the cover has plenty of time to be rounded and centralized. However, the shortage is the productivity. Titleist Pro V1/x are casting. Taiwan golf ball maker Foremost is the same.

If the cover is off the center with 0.1mm, you can see it without difficulty. The good golf ball maker can make the tolerance within 0.01mm. As a result, the manufacturing know-how on cover is key to make the ball with better quality, air flighting and softness of irons and putting.

These things are not easy for a golf ball factory since it needs to be consistent, detailed and insistent for the production. Many Asian manufacturers take the advantages of skipping some steps to save the cost and time, but it sacrifices the quality and performance of the product. I can see Trust's manufacturing quality and technology, they really did hard on the ball making. As a golf ball maker, I can see it from the ball inside to know how much time and works they have dedicated! Trust deserves the credit.

實際測試篇開始。

誰會把新球剖開來檢查?至少我會。剖了幾百個球，剪下去剎那，就可以感覺和知道球心的密度，硬度和材質。有時候產能擴充太快，第一線的生產人員技術和知識不足下，就很容易產生問題和不良率。

但因為球不容易去剖開檢測，所以不是沒問題而是你沒看到問題而已。如果工廠老闆在乎這些細節，那生產的要求就高。良率就高！相對而言，這樣的要求就會提高生產成本，增加生產時間，提高工人作業流程。這就是要做好產品需要的成本和時間。

這次我的測試有用了Soft、V、X三款硬度。在不同的時間和球場去測試。同時也蒐集其他球友們使用的經驗和心得在下面的測試報告裡。

實際測試：
我測試了一號木，三木和五木等木桿。同時也收集其他球友們對trust球的使用心得和經驗。整體來說；一木的距離是有提升約10碼。如果你的揮桿速度比較快，距離的提升會更多。

比較的其他球款有Pro V1，TP5，Chrome，Foremost類似球款。我個人使用soft和V硬度的球。開球的距離提升在5～10碼。Soft和V的差別在硬度，對於距離來說，並沒有太大差異。對於擊球手感上是主要影響。

用soft的話，比較好打和舒服。打中甜蜜點效果很舒服也可以得到好的距離。我覺得如果冬天用soft會好打也不會重手狀況。天氣熱就用V會比較容易發揮力量。手感會紮實，距離上也會比較遠一點。在球速上也和pro v1 差不多。打起來很熱血也爽度滿分！

我的朋友揮桿速度快，速度在105mph以上的朋友打，覺得距離提升很多。有10～15碼。差點在5。他就很喜歡Trust球。因為開球距離提升了，第二桿可以用鐵桿變得只要用短鐵打就夠。他就覺得Trust球很猛，距離也到位。

平時用Pro V1的時候，一樣的Par 5，開完球需要用到4或5鐵第二桿，現在只要8鐵就夠。而且鐵桿的果嶺停球力很優。完全可以放開來打。至少在木桿類，trust bison球款是確實有其性能和距離的提升。這點就需要給個讚！

Do you cut the ball off to check the inside of golf ball? I will! I have cut off over hundreds of golf balls and the moment I cut, I can feel the golf core's compression, material and density. The sound tells me all the things regarding the ball structure, material and technology.

Sometimes if the golf ball core operator is experienced or knowledgeable, it will result some problems and defeats. Since core is key of the golf ball and most of golfers won't be able to cut the ball off to inspect. It doesn't mean the ball you are using is 100% good and well-structured, you can not check inside of the ball and no idea for the ball condition and quality through the appearance.

To produce good quality of golf ball takes more time for operators to focus on the steps and works, The procedure can not be reduced or skipped, the system needs to be complex for all kinds of inspection check. With those works, the cost of golf ball will be high in order to maintain the ball quality.

I test Bison Soft, V and X three different compressions in different time, and golf courses. At the same time, I also invite my friends who have various swing speeds to join my test for trust bison golf balls. Let's move into the practical test.

Practical usage
I have tried my drivers, 3w, 5w for knowing the ball performance. With my play in past 2.5 months, I have gain about 5~10 yards longer on tee shot with Bison soft and V balls.It is easy to identify the distance increasing. If you swing speed is faster, you will gain more distance for sure with other friends experience.

I have compared with other balls such as Pro V1, TP5 and Foremost urethane cover balls, Trust Bison on woods is outstanding distance. The Soft and V are only differed on impact feel. If your swing speed is over 100mph in driver, it's better to use V or X model.

In winter or cold weather, it's better to use soft compression to control the ball and maintain good impact feel. That's why now I am using soft more than V. In terms of ball flight speed, I think Bison is as good as Pro V1. That's impressive performance and result.

One of my friends has swing speed over 105mph, he likes Trust Bison a lot since he can gain tremendous distance improvement. Generally he play his home course with par 5, his second shot used to be 5i but now he only needs short irons or wedge for second shot. It's over 15 yards distance increasing.

It's the same as my usage and experience. With woods, Trust Bison balls are impressive on distance improvement. This ball deserves for people's recognition.

實際測試篇2開始。

我自己打完18洞觀察球的外觀狀況是有幾處刮傷。有些地方的表面印刷有被刮掉但皮是沒有影響或刮破的狀況。這部分我認為是表漆的問題。應該是漆的配方需要再調整一下會比較好。不然打個洞表面會比較慘不忍睹。

過兩天再下場打，球皮是有刮痕。我的短桿都是開放打法所以可以看出來球皮和漆的耐用力，它的皮打3洞下來就會有磨損狀況。因為短切可以落地停球，皮有刮痕。耐用上就一般了。大家可以看照片瞭解。

但比賽球是求效能和結果。皮和表漆這些問題對於結果是沒有影響。因為短桿效果是沒話說。我的打法都是落地停球。雖然球的耗損比較多，但我認為一場球用掉或換掉2個球是可以接受。當然我有把這些問題提供給林總，他對問題也有進行改善。

我的朋友連續三天下場都用Trust Bison X，球皮也是有一些刮痕。但不影響使用。所以他也覺得不錯。至少他說Pro V1也差不多是這樣。鐵桿的距離他說會比用Pro V1要短個5碼左右，但木桿距離是比較遠。我個人的認為是球皮配方需要再調整。提升耐用度才能在鐵桿效能上提升起來。

用過2次後，就逐漸習慣Trust球的感覺和反饋，會更上手。就如果新球桿一樣。很容易掌握擊球的技巧和控制球路。反而我覺得鐵桿的高低彈道和左右曲球很容易打出來，效果上也很突出。因為它的球皮相對軟，側旋和倒旋就容易製造出來。對於操控型的球友，這球會是非常好控制和手感的產品。

我覺得鐵桿的距離沒有短。尤其在打三桿洞就看的很明顯。應該說，這款球對於速度力量大的球友來說，可以得到比較明顯的距離差異。所以要挑對硬度的球，你才能得到最好的結果。至少在Bison上是如此。

對於推桿上，我覺得和用Pro V1的回饋是差不多。球皮咬桿面很紮實，滾動效果也不錯。倒旋量不錯，滾動距離比較遠。不會滾到後面會突然停下來狀況。球皮的軟也會讓推的效果到位。推擊的手感也很舒服，很容易感受到回饋。

因為每一種球都有它的特性和獨特回饋，在初期使用會覺得不同於以往使用感覺。但逐漸習慣後就覺得這手感很棒。因為你知道這樣的手感是否有打對點和效果是否發揮？就如同球桿一樣，習慣了後，你會更知道要如何去發揮和控制。Trust 球會讓你敢打，只要你知道它的特性。

After playing 18 holes, the ball appearance has couple of scratches. The ball clear coat is off that is the main reason for cover scratches. I think Trust needed to improve its coating recipe in order to enhance the durability of playing. Otherwise, it will need to replace the balls after playing 3 to 5 holes regularly.

Couple days later, I play again and use new bison balls, the cover is the same condition without good durability. However, the iron and wedge shots are good with Bison ball, since the cover is soft that can allow me to land on the green without rolling. The cover is softer than other major brand balls and will help you gain the good feel and better abilities of dropping and stopping on the green.

My friend has similar experience with playing Bison. His swing speed is over 105mph and he gains better distance on woods but the irons are short about 5 yards overall compared with Pro V1 he was been using for over 5 years. He likes Bison ball's performance and feel as he is playing X model.

I did provide the feedback and testing report to Trust and they have worked out the cover and coating improvements. I think in next year's Bison should be better than what I currently have. That's why I always believe building a new brand takes years to see the result. When your first product launches then get the feedback from market would take over 6 months then fine tune. The final version would take couple years to finish. That's why building a brand takes long time to see and run.

With putting, Bison ball is good feel as cover is soft that I can easily control the contact spot of the putter face. Moreover, the ball has good rolling with ideal spins to make the best rolling distance. It won't stop suddenly since the spin is good for making the ball roll the best. I like Bison on putting as I can control better to make the best putting result.

After playing couple rounds, I am familiar with Bison ball well. Once you know the ball, you can perform better with better confidence and experience to work on the ball. At least, Bison is a good product to play for most of golfers if you pick the right compression model.

完結篇開始。

對於選擇適合的硬度，我建議你可以依照你的木桿揮桿速度去照降一級的來用。和你的揮桿速度的硬度，兩個不同硬度的球，你去比較一下會比較好。因為這和你的動作有關，不只有揮桿速度。因為你的下桿打法和節奏都會影響你的擊球效果。

如果你的動作不是轉動，或是到了擊球點你的力量還沒有到釋放點，你的力量和速度是低於你的最大值。所以當你的動作沒有效率或不正確時，可以選軟一點的硬度會比較容易讓你得到好的效果和手感。

這點是和原廠的硬度選擇上是有點不同。我也比較過不同硬度和不同使用者，對於實際使用的效果和感受上也確實如此。也是大家可以參考的地方。

整體來說，我提供給約5個朋友測試Trust球。分別是soft、V、X三種不同硬度的球款。使用的經驗都是正面。不管在距離，操控，手感和短桿表現和推桿上，都是有超過他們的預期和比現在他們使用的球款要更好的結果。

球皮耐用度這塊普遍覺得可以再更好，雖然倒旋停球力是很優，但可以再更耐磨，讓球皮消耗可以更少就很完美。當然以這個價位的產品來說，已經算不錯了。

當然反應到價格這部分，球友就覺得讚。因為30美金，不到1000台幣有這樣的結果和表現，根本就便宜大碗！我個人認為現在和以後的高檔多層優力辛球款會逐漸在價格上往中間靠攏。以往那種40多美元或1700台幣多的價位，會有更多友善價格的球款相繼加入戰場。而Trust就是新的品牌新產品代表之一。

在我之前的文章有提到Trust的球內部構造和技術。台灣製球的水準還是很優。有些地方還比美國要更好。當然Titleist的製造要求和技術都是頂尖。如果你不想花太多錢在球上，但性能又要好，至少市面有一些低於1000NTD的產品可以選擇。台灣的產品基本就在這個價位打轉。

如果要質量和效果，Trust還是一款可以嘗試的產品。當然它還有一些不足和缺點，對於它的價位來說我認為是很對得起了。很多台灣產品動不動就拿著支持MIT的旗子喊。我很討厭這樣的行銷方法！支持不支持MIT是個人問題，和愛國沒有關係，但我不會和我的荷包過不去。

對於一般中差點球友來說Trust算是好用產品。後續對於球皮和漆的改善有提升的話。是值得期待的產品。

For the right compression, it's better to pick the softer compression for average golfers based on your driver swing speed. Since you do not have the right swing speed and your downswing releasing is not right, you would not get the best power and energy in impact. That's why it's better to try the softer compression.

However, during the winter or cold weather, it's better to play softer compression for controlling the ball and soft feedback. Therefore, I would suggest to pick two compressions to play based on the weather and your swing condition. That's what I always stock two kinds of ball compressions in my bag and based on my swing and weather, I can pick the right ball to play for the best performance.

Overall, I have sent the Bison balls for 5 friends to try out with Soft, V, X three compressions. Their usage on Bison is positive on control, distance, short game and putting. It's outperformed on some fields but the ball cover and coating durabilities are not as good as others. I talked with Trust CEO Lin, he said they are improved and use the new cover and coating recipe. It will have better result on cover and coating for sure on 2020 version balls.

Regarding the cost of Bison, it's USD32/dozen on Amazon with free shipping. I believe such pricing and product performance are good for average golfers to try out. The quality and performance you can gain from Bison won't be less compared with other $40 something major brand balls. For such price, you will be comfortable to make out of bound.

I know there are many Asian golf ball brands in the market such as Kirkland, Vice and others. They might not be good as Pro Vs, but with the price range for average golfers, these balls are the better selection to enjoy the weekend golf. Of course, if you are single handicapper with sensitive feel, these balls might not fit your requirement and feel. However, it's always better to have the second choice for all of your products, you won't know what it will happen tomorrow.
