推桿桿身逐步走碳纖維化/Putter shaft becomes graphie material gradually!

近5年來,越來越多的碳纖維推桿桿身掃蕩市場,碳纖維材質屌爆不鏽鋼和其他材質活躍在高爾夫球桿世界裡。在越短的桿子裡,硬和重是關鍵!碳纖維的優勢沒有比鋼管桿身要來得突出。原因在於材質強度和長度短。碳纖維的DNA在彈性、手感和重量上是無敵。像挖起桿或推桿桿身都是長度比較短,要輕量化不是標配。反而需要一些重量來平衡使用需求。

再說到推桿,過去一直都很難碳纖維化。因為碳纖維的優勢在手感和倒旋量,對推桿來說,碳纖維如同加渦輪增壓的效果。對距離,滾動穩定性和手感都是鋼管桿身的硬傷。現代化高爾夫裡,講求更加細膩的表現和科學數據,所以桿身廠對碳纖維推桿身產品逐步重視和藍海策略。

我也推過各品牌的推桿桿身,表現都不相上下、各有千秋。優點都在於手感好、倒旋佳和滾動穩定。相對要比鋼管桿身好推、爽度破表。碳纖維推桿桿身在重量上也和鋼管桿身類似。都在100~170g的範圍,但在外觀塗裝上,碳纖維桿身的變化和吸睛能力是甩得傳統鋼管看不到尾燈的狀況。

不過我認為,碳纖維推桿桿身應該做多元化的重量選擇。不是只有100g以上的產品,100g以下的推桿桿身也是一個重要的需求。因為輕量化也是推桿需要走的路。因為我個人和協助球友的經驗,走輕量化推桿的設定,相對推擊結果要比現在重推桿更優和更容易。也讓我成為忠貞輕量化推桿的鐵粉!

另外現在的碳纖維推桿桿身價格也都在天花板的高度。明明不錯的產品卻只能少數人去享受。一來太多人覺得推好,不是桿身或球桿的助力,是個人臥薪嘗膽、苦練而來。這都什麼年代了,還搞這種勵志噴淚故事。誰有那種美國時間泡在球場果嶺練推桿。對方法、適合的工具和球桿知識才是王道!醒醒吧,是廠商把球桿變難了。

In recent 5 years, there are more graphite putter shafts coming, it tells us we are living in graphite golf club world. You can find all golf clubs with graphite shafts from woods to putters. Why? Graphite shafts are really good enough to implement on all the golf clubs? Since graphite shaft has more advantages than steel shaft in terms of performance, feel and control. That's why graphite shafts are occupied in all golf clubs.

In general, the shorter golf clubs have less advantages by using graphite shaft. Since shorter golf club needs to have certain weight to balance the play. The same situation on putter as well. It really needs certain shaft weight to build the club balance in play. However, the shaft makers see the opportunity by matching similar shaft weight as steel shaft in putter.

All the graphite putter shaft weights are from 100g to 170g. You can find it with various length of putters on graphite shaft. The great things for graphite putter shaft are feeling soft and smooth, stable rolling distance and good spin rate. For me there is a big benefit from graphite putter shaft is the appearance. Since graphite putter shaft can pain almost all kinds of colors with cool logo and product name on various finished appearance.

That's steel putter shaft can't fight for. The current graphite putter shaft needs to have lighter putter weight to target lighter putter weight market and demand. Since I have tried to use lighter graphite shaft (below 70g shaft weight) on putters, it gain significant control, performance and feel. That's the market I believe the shaft makers need to develop and penetrate.

The prices of graphite putter shafts are too high. You have to spend over $250 for a good graphite putter shaft. It makes this product harder to be accepted and purchased by majority. I hope in near future we can find more and more graphite putter shaft products in the market. Of course, golfers need to build more knowledge and experience on putter shafts in order to find and determine which products are good for their usage and preference.

所以我從不照廠商的規格和設定去用,山不轉路轉,廢物利用。我把其他桿身進行改裝和調整變化,然後裝在推桿頭上。這樣的經驗和效果都得到不錯的反饋。亂搞就是這個好處,往往會有意想不到的驚艷結果。這樣價格就壓下來。這對一般球友來說就比較困難!一來沒有工具和棄置零件,再來是專業能力也不足,很難自己去改裝,更換推桿的零件和規格。

對我來說,碳纖維的優勢是絕對可以運用在推桿上。而且效果非常突出和到位。只是這需要對球桿的基礎和經驗有一個火候,才能配置出好的推桿。推桿的配置難度和複雜度和木桿不相上下。我自己也經過幾十支推桿配置的組合下,依據不同球友使用特性,才有一個概略的碳纖維推桿桿身如何去配置和規格設定知識。

目前推桿碳纖維桿身的效果,其實不全面也無法對不同推法有完整的涵蓋。主要針對多數球友以手臂為主的推法。對於利用肩膀擺動的推法球友來說,目前市面上的碳纖維推桿桿身,並沒有比較輕量化的產品可以選擇。可能鐘擺推法的球友族群少到可憐,廠商完全不甩你們!

除了重量外,在硬度上也需要進行調整,以面對擺動推法的速度和力量。而且我認為,目前的碳纖維推桿桿身的桿身厚度都太高。在桿身後段的使用會太厚、過硬和過重。對於操控上可以在調整更好一些。可以利用金屬和碳纖維材質的混搭來把這問題給改善。這樣會提升更多的操控性、手感和穩定性。

以目前碳纖維推桿桿身要在近10年可以把價格壓低的機會不大。應該還是走比較高端的市場。但對於產品的質量和優化會更好。因為當越多的廠商推出推桿桿身,也就代表他們會不斷推陳出新、改善產品來得到市場和球友們的認可。所以可以去買一支來玩玩,或許會讓你推得更爽?

I love to DIY and modify parts and products then come out to different new products and solution. I use pulled out shafts and cut to the right length to fit the putter head. It results better control and easier to use advantages. Of course, I can make the cost of the putter lower with graphite putter shaft.

However, it's difficult for average golfers who do not have certain mechanical engineering background and clubmaking ability. It also needs the tools and machines to clubmaking the golf club. You can discuss with local workshop clubmaker to see whether or not he can help you do something like that?

Clubfitting putter is the same complexity as driver. Since shorter golf clubs are required better personal fit and usage. There are many details and preferences needed to be considered then build with totally personal putter. That's why I think the majority of current putters are not fit for golfers as it's standardized product without personal setup.

Moreover, current putters are good for golfers who use arms to putt. With shoulder rotation/pendulum putting, there are not many putters for this group. For this group of golfers they need lighter shaft weight and lighter putter head in order to allow them to rotate the shoulder easily and smoothly. Unfortunately, you need to build that for yourself, there is no shafts for lighter weight in putter.

On the following 10 years, I believe there are more graphite putter shafts coming out and we will see more similar products in the market. Before making any purchase, you need to try it out first and try as many combinations as possible. You will have better idea of graphite putter shaft's pros and cons. That's the job you need to do.
