中空鐵桿頭列入先發主力了/The main trend of hollow-body iron heads！

鐵桿頭設計算是最少變化和技術更新的產品。基本就是凹背和刀背，材質就是碳鋼，桿頭特性是鍛造和鑄造。基本就是這些，每年的新桿套就是脫不了這些架構和特性。而在Titleist10年前推出中空桿頭設計，結合凹背和刀背的特性總成產物。而在中空桿頭的風潮下，我就開始用到現在，幾乎是每2～3年就換其他中空桿頭來玩。所以今天想來說這部分。

從中空桿頭風潮開始，我個人認為一定會成為鐵桿產品的基本先發主力。現在看各個品牌的鐵桿產品，你一定可以看到有中空產品。而且在各個品牌的中空產品都有其特色，產品的質量、效能和設計真的越來越好！所以這2年下來，又買了Titleist T200和Mizuno HMB 225 2 套中空鐵桿來玩。直覺現在的中空產品的成熟度越來越高。

我以前有寫不少文章關於中空桿頭的產品特色和風潮，而目前看來也都和我想的差不多。各家品牌也都加入中空產品，每年都會推出不同新產品。我必須說，中空產品的外型是結合刀背和凹背的特性。把凹背的後背包給包覆起來，看起來就像刀背桿頭。其實中空就如同半凹背產品，只是把背面的部分給包覆起來。讓桿頭的線條更完整和飽滿！

而中空和半凹背的桿面多半是獨立零件。有些廠商會用不同於主體的材質，比如麻鋼、鈦合金、或不同的碳鋼。重點都在提升桿面擊球的手感和效能。這點是我個人比較喜歡，因為桿面是直接和球接觸的零件，這部分可以作為提升效能和手感最好的地方。讓球友可以更享受擊球的爽度和距離外掛的爆發。

我試過不少中空產品，主力品牌不說，小品牌也有，基本上得到的結果都不錯。因為中空桿頭的設計可以讓擊球出球角度進行提升，讓球更容易飛向空中，球速也可以比凹背更好。如果配置好的碳纖維桿身，可以讓手感、操控和效能拉到最高。因為業餘球友，本身的動作和速度力量都沒有職業好，配置適合桿身和規格是整個鐵桿的靈魂！

Iron design is very limited and barely changed! Basically it's for cavity or blade. Of course there is half cavity but it's advanced to hollow body design. It's what the mainstream for the future iron. Nowadays there are a number of hollow body iron designs, the hollow body is the benefits of cavity and blade in general.

Since the hollow body is able to make the head center of cavity as low as possible that makes the ball fly higher with better trajectory. The whole iron head is designed like blade with better appearance and muscle back look. I personally have been using hollow body irons for over a decade and knowing for sure with the advantages.

I must say the new hollow body iron looks more stylish and solid look, I couldn't hold my fire for purchasing more hollow body irons including Titleist T200 and Mizuno Pro 225. I have seen many face materials on hollow body iron such as titanium, carpenter stainless, and other carbon stainless. The good thing is to deliver better impact and feel.

With my experiences, I have played various hollow body irons including major brands and small unknown Japanese brands, the distance and performance are the key for hollow body that helps you play easier and fly longer without difficulty. When you get older, the distance is losing, the performance and distance become important for you to play consistently.

That's why I have been playing hollow body iron for over a decade, I can't switch to blade or cavity because the benefits of hollow body is better than others. If you would like to make your iron level up, fitting with good graphite iron shaft, it will certainly increase the distance, feel and control. Of course the side spin can powerfully reduce as well.

再說到，有些中空桿頭的短鐵會設計半中空，如同Mizuno Pro 225這套。它的長中鐵就是中空，到9～P就半中空。也就是中空的範圍變小。因為短鐵桿頭要準度，對於效能上的需求不會太大。這也是我會購買HMB 225的原因。就是要去瞭解這些中空桿頭的設計和特色。進而去使用、瞭解產品和實際的差異？

中空桿頭以前的產品都會灌膠在裡面。但現在的中空桿頭就比較沒有，這樣可以讓桿面去產生更多的效果和回饋。另外，很多中空桿頭都會有設計配重螺絲，可以去調整桿頭重量。這些設計都是你在一般刀背和凹背桿頭上所看不到。也就是說，中空桿頭的產品和外觀設計都會有更多變化和差異。

我個人會覺得，中空桿頭的長鐵會更容易去使用。所以我現在用三鐵都是中空鐵桿，已經不用小雞腿很多年了。因為長鐵的使用可以把彈道壓低，避免距離的流失，擊球的質量和側旋問題也會比較好。相對於小雞腿，球質會比較軟弱，側旋也比較多，彈道高，很容易會被風給影響，距離和準度影響很大。導致我現在根本不用小雞腿。

好的中空桿頭，打出來的球速會比刀背和凹背鐵桿要快多了，而且手感會是比較明顯和集中。尤其我現在用的T200，紮實度，和出球速度都非常好，是我今年來用的中空桿頭效果和手感最好。也可以明顯感覺到中空桿頭的設計越來越成熟。對於一般球友來說，是可以兼具性能、手感和外型的產品。所以我找不到什麼理由去說不！

日系小品牌的中空桿頭呢？我個人覺得，美系的中空桿頭設計會比較優，對於桿頭結構設計上，美系產品要遠勝於日系。但日系的桿面材質使用上會比較好。因為多半會用鍛造的碳鋼來提升手感。另外在價格部分，基本上一支桿子的費用都在USD200以上，如果配置好的碳纖維桿身價格會更高。性價比是比較一致。

To make the hollow body more productive is key to deliver the performance. Basically the long and mid irons enjoy the design well on delivering the performance, the short irons have not benefited too much from it as the short irons are targeting the accuracy instead of performance. The Mizuno Pro 225 makes short irons 9~P with smaller hollow body on design.

I will try to see what's the difference between the mid and short irons on hollow body space? Another differentiation on hollow body irons, there is weight screw on the head for adjusting the head weight. It's good for clubmaking/clubfitting to build the right swing weight for golfers to play. For average golfers, they can change the weight screws by themselves without asking clubmaker to pull out the shaft and adjusting the weight.

Honestly, the long irons for hollow body are easier to deliver the distance. That's the reason why I do not use hybrid for a decade. The hybrid to me is high trajectory and more spin, most of times, the distance is short due to the winds, high trajectory and spins. However, the hollow long irons play easier and better distance than hybrid due to the lower trajectory, low spin and fast ball speed.

The carry distance is not big different with hybrid to me but the distance is more consistent and easier to deliver. For advanced golfers, if you can play well on long irons, you can have 5 woods and long irons to target the distances easily without distance shortage. That's my experience!

I have been playing Titleist T200 in 2022, it's great feel and solid performance, and will build Mizuno Pro 225 in August then I will compare the Pro 225 and T200 to share my thoughts and experience. I would say the hollow body iron is the gift for average golfers since you can play it easier like cavity but perform better as blade.
