Taylormade P - 790 forged iron 7i review測試！

這週TM P-790鍛造鐵桿開始有預定了。它的外型真的好看，刀背造型，線條流暢。朋友那邊有了試打桿可以試，就來玩看看。實體感覺比較紮實。桿頭沒有日本刀背那樣小，桿頭上緣的厚度沒有傳統刀背的薄，感覺這是介於刀背和凹背的桿頭。是中空桿頭的感覺。當然P770和790都是一樣的設計結構，中空桿頭。

打起來，比較易打。沒有傳統刀背那樣的要求精準度。它是中空桿頭的設計。手感也不錯。當然沒有日系那樣的軟。不過打起來，桿面是很彈。我個人覺得OEM的生產水準來說，這算不錯。7i的桿面後移很少，擊球的反彈角會比較低一點。難度就沒有日系鍛造刀背的可怕。這樣的桿頭設計比較務實，對一般人使用會更友善.

對於距離和彈道，在室內的擊球模擬器上，打到甜蜜點的整體距離是150碼左右。沒有打到甜蜜點在135～140碼範圍。滾動距離在10+-3碼範圍。倒旋量是4500rpm+-300rpm，這桿子是配True Temper dynamic gold 105 S300硬度。得到比較多的倒旋，彈道也比較高。距離感就比較短。

和我現在的7i要短10碼左右，我覺得桿頭比較注重在操控，比較適合有速度的球友來運用。速度不快的話，用這樣的桿子需要瞭解距離會比較短的問題。但得到比較好的手感和落地停球能力。這也是這桿子的訴求。算是有達到它的訴求。不過如果換好的碳纖維桿身，是可以提升效能和操控能力！以後續訂製來看，是款不錯的產品去進行個人化升級。

它的距離效果和手感都和Callaway X forged 2021、Callaway Apex 21 差不多。都是Forged所以感覺和效果都大同小異。但P790時中空桿頭，2個零件設計結構（桿面鍛造，主體時鑄造）這樣距離效果有點失望。比起類似的Ping G700 7i要短不少。G700 7鐵我可以打到超過160碼，沒有打到甜蜜點都可以在140碼以上。當然這是原廠的設定，是有空間可以提升效能和其他方面的能力表現！

This time I try Taylormade P790 forged iron, it's really outstanding design and shape. With 2 piece parts' head design and hollow body for better performance. That's the iron I prefer since it helps average golfers on forgiving, distance and feel without traditional forged blade's difficulty. When you look at the head, you believe it's a blade but it's not!

You can compare with other traditional style's forged head, P790 is bigger and top line is thinner. The face is aggressive with low launch angle in order to get the maximum distance. Frankly speaking, it's good for average golfers to handle. The smaller head forged design is hard for average golfers to strike on the sweet spot and the off sweet spot is harder feedback.

With P790, it's good feel that you can feel the striking and bouncing from the face. That's the fun and you can interact with the face directly. I have been using hollow body iron head for over 8 years and love its forgiving and performance. Even though it's off sweet spot, the ball still fly good results instead of short carry with forged iron.

Here are the data I get from indoor test with foresign QC2. Striking on sweet spot the carry distance is 150 yards and off sweet spot is 135 yards, the rolling distance is about 10 yards +- 3 yards. The spin rate is 4500rpm+- 300rpm. It's more back spin but the iron needs to be drop and stop ability which is ok for me. The stock shaft is True Temper dynamic gold 105 S300 flex, the trajectory is high with high spin, as the result, the distance is short.

Comparing with my current 7i, it's about 10 yards shorter, but the head is good on controlling, if you have swing speed, this head is good for you to play and work the ball well. But the swing swing for 7i is less than 90mph, you may not get the distance you expect. However, the head is good in all kinds of fields but there is big room for golfers to upgrade and customize different graphite shaft and personal specification.

If you are looking for the new irons, I think P790 is good for average golfers to consider but to make your own specification and usage, there is the room for you to get your iron performance and spec. The hollow body is better for later adjustment and customization. That's the thing you can consider for later adjustment.
