另外，你下場打球，球僮會問你：要不要把桿套都卸下來？這有影響嗎？對我來說，我都會要求打完後，就必須要把桿套給套上。原因很簡單，如果所有桿頭都見光，我們都知道，球袋放在球車後面，一路駛來那有平順，每次都聽到，桿頭彼此敲擊聲響。我自己聽到都在為桿子淌血。因為很多木桿頭都容易敲到桿頭掉漆、刮傷和凹傷。

那些鍛造鐵桿頭就更不用說。因為材質相對軟，大家開球車一副當拉力賽跑，都要用off road模式，桿子能一路平安就見鬼了。所以很多鍛造鐵桿桿頭，都有很多一點一點的敲痕，就是下場沒有把鋼盔戴好所導致。而且大家在打鐵桿都會帶2～3支桿子隨身，鋼盔都拿下來，桿頭邊走邊敲來敲去的，把桿身，桿頭都傷到不能自我。切記避免！

推桿的桿頭套我也建議不要拿下來。除非要推的時候再拿下來。因為如果桿面有沾上泥土、沙子等東西，對於桿面就會有傷害和刮痕。或許你覺得這無所謂，但積沙成塔，桿面就是這樣磨損，影響你推的滾動性和倒旋量。所以最好準備乾淨擦桿頭的毛巾，這樣才能讓你的桿頭發揮最好的結果和手感。

而我都會打完球後回家給球桿上臘，最後在桿面上一點油做保養。尤其在台灣比較潮濕，上油可以讓你的桿子保存更好，一些鐵桿和挖起桿都標榜會生鏽，你可以不要上油，因為你不就是要讓它生鏽才買！球桿最好放在通風的地方，這樣桿子比較不會受潮。也避免放在車子後車箱，因為有太陽的溫度都會高到上百度，對球桿的膠和握把都會有影響。

最後，球桿是你的哥兒們！你如果都不去保養或維護它們，別期待它會給你多好的臉色。磨損和污垢都是日積月累，久了就不容易清理、久了就尾大難去。別認為一點東西在桿面沒有影響，擊球都會對吃球有直接衝擊。如果你要打的好、對於這些會影響你擊球結果的變數都要去在意。這樣才能知道你打好、打壞的原因，進而去改善問題！
